INTRODUCTION    Mega  View  Media  Limited  was  formed  in  January  2010  specialising  in  full  color  Mobile  Electronic  Outdoor  Media  for  exhibitions  and  events.  Our  primary  mission  and  objective  is  to  provide  unique  advertising  and  communication  solutions  that  will  help  build  greater  brand  awareness  and  stimulate  greater  sales  for  our  clients.    In  the  middle  of  2009,  we  decided  to  take  advantage  of  the  2010  Soccer  World  Cup  being  hosted  in  Africa  for  the  first  time  and  developed  a  fan  park  concept.  This  is  a  public  viewing  area  for  fans  to  enjoy  the  atmosphere  of  a  live  sports  game  with  fellow  supporters  to  replicate  and  leverage  the  South  African  experience.  At  the  beginning  of  2010,  Mega  View  Media  Ltd  was  born.  It  operates  a  sound  and  vision  Mobile  Unit  called  the  Picture  box.  Both  the  company  and  the  Unit  are  Zambian  registered.   The  Picture  box  provides  brand  significance,  vitality  and  combines  traditional  standards  with  the  specific  media  functionality  that  is  especially  interactive,  eye  catching  and  flexible.    PICTUREBOX  DESCRIPTION  The  Picture  box  is  a  flexible  and  mobile  medium  that  can  reach  your  target  audience  in  a  more  personal  and  aggressive  manner.  Neither  radio,  TV,  print  nor  other  forms  of  outdoor  media  are  more  personal.  It  is  a  self  contained  mobile  4m  x  3m  high  resolution  LED  screen.  It  has  a  built  in  sound  system,  video  processor  and  vision  mixer,  which  therefore  makes  it  a  mobile  studio.  In  addition,  a  15sqm  stage,  cameras  and  scenic  can  be  added  which  can  be  used  for  live  events,  presentations  (i.e.  an  event  filmed  live  that  appears  on  the  screen  for  large  audiences)  and  activations.            The  screen  is  placed  on  a  hydraulic  mast  that  rises  up  to  4  meters  from  the  ground  for  clear  visibility.  The  viewing  distance  is  150m  for  a  capacity  of  10,000  people.  It  is  operated  by  a  40KVA  generator  to  ensure  usage  anywhere,  at  anytime  for  up  to  eight  hours  at  a  time.  The  Picture  box  can  be  used  for  events,  promotions  and  advertising.  Set  up  just  takes  10  minutes  from  arrival  at  the  site  to  deliver  image  and  audio  on  screen.  The  screen  and  generator  sits  on  a  6.5-­‐ton  double  cab  truck  that  can  be  driven  on  any  difficult  terrain.  Control  auxiliaries  include  a  DVD  player,  DSTV,  VHS  player,  preview  monitors,  4  camera  live  mix,  2  x  1000w  speakers  and  cordless  microphones.  The  screen  is  operated  from  the  built  in  studio  in  the  double  cab.

OUR  TRACK  RECORD    Mega  View’s  first  assignment  was  the  Inter-­‐Company  Relay  held  on  the  5th    of  June  2010  where  through  Coca  cola,  Oasis  water  brand  was  launched.  The  second  and  biggest  assignment  was  the  screening  of  the  2010  Soccer  World  Cup  from  11th  June  to  11th  July  at  an  outdoor  public  viewing  area,  Barclays  Sports  Complex,  in  Lusaka.  This  was  our  initiative  that  we  sold  to  main  sponsor,  MTN  and  co-­‐sponsors  Barclays  and  Zambia  Breweries.  This  event  was  the  first  of  its  kind  in  Zambia.    It  involved  providing  a  turnkey  event  management  solution  with  the  Picture  box  as  the  primary  attraction.  This  included  recommending  the  venue,  providing  support  services  and  infrastructure  i.e.  toilets,  chairs,  ambulance  etc.  while  giving  sponsors  the  opportunity  to  increase  brand  awareness  `and  loyalty  to  stimulate  sales.  It  allowed  for  an  alternative  and  innovative  forum      To  communicate  the   sponsors’  brands  to  their  customers,  including  sponsors’  association  with  the  first  ever  fan  park  in  Zambia  as  well  as  their  staff  motivation,  and  was  also  seen  as  a  community  initiative.  For  the  sponsors,  being  part  of  the  world’s  major  sporting  event  is  an  opportunity  to  leverage  their  brands  in  a  big  way.    A  major  coup  for  the  Picture  box  were  the  two  electrical  power  outages  experienced  in  Lusaka  during  the  week  of  21st  June  2010.  We  continued  televising  the  soccer,  which  resulted  in  more  than  usual  numbers  at  the  fan  park.  

This  prompted  the  use  of  this  marketing  slogan  by  MTN  through  bulk  SMS’s  “power  may  be  out,  but  we  are  still  showing  the  soccer”.  Mega  view  also  worked  with  MTN  during  the  African  cup  of  Nations  Tournament.  This  included  televising  the  AFCON  Matches  at  different  points  while  the  Airtel  Mobile  money  was  promoted.  

Mega  view  has  also  worked  with  Remote  Site  Solutions  in  Coca-­‐Cola  price  reduction  awareness  as  well  as  with  Multi-­‐choice  on  the  Go  TV  promotions  and  activations.
