The Caterpillar® Bulk Fuel Filtration system is intended for use in any application where users store fuel for machines or engines. The filter coalescer units are placed in series between the fuel pump on the fuel storage tank and the fuel station. Smaller units can be used for remote day tank or fuel truck applications. The system does not require electrical power unless they are used in extremely cold climates. An optional electric fuel heater is available for cold climates where water removed from the fuel may freeze. The maximum fuel flow rate of the users fuel supply system determines the size of the filter coalescer filtration system. Four different units are available. Reference PELJ0671 for more information on bulk fuel filtration systems. Replacement Filters & Heater Elements Proper maintenance practices and regular servicing will ensure the performance and life of your bulk fuel filtration unit. The replacement filters and heater elements listed below are direct replacements for the production elements used in the systems.

Coalescer Kits* Pre-filter Kit* 284-0423 (50 gpm systems) 284-0436 (all systems) 284-0437 (100 gpm systems) 284-0441 (200 gpm systems) 299-2372 (300 gpm systems)

Separator Kits* Heater Elements** 284-0426 (50/100 gpm systems) 307-0655 (120V heater) 301-9814 (200 gpm systems) 307-2569 (220V heater) 301-9815 (300 gpm systems)

* Note: Coalescer element kits are multi-element kits that satisfy a complete change-out of the particular fuel/water separator in use. Pre-filter and separator element kits are (1) element only kits and need to be ordered according to how many elements are being replaced. ** Note: The 50, 100 and 200 gpm units only require one heater element, while the 300 gpm unit requires two heater elements.

Filter Change Intervals Replacement pre-filter elements should be replaced every 3-6 months, or as needed. At a minimum, we recommend the filter be changed at least one time per year. In areas with extremely dirty fuel conditions, the pre-filter should be monitored regularly to ensure the filters do not clog, allowing contaminated fuel to enter the system. Each unit is supplied with differential pressure indicators, one for the pre-filter and one for the fuel/water separator. Filter elements should be changed at, or a little before, they reach 20-psi differential pressure. If they reach 25-psi differential the slug valve will automatically shut off flow forcing the maintenance of the system. Replacement coalescer filters should be changed as required, with a minimum of one change per year recommended. Replacement heater elements only need to be replaced as required.
