sword” is a proverb suitable for all ages
and all places. GCE Chronicles, the
Newsletter team of this institution functions
as its pen upholding its rich heritage and
tradition. It is indeed my pleasure to be the
Patron of this special community and look over its
good work. With its first edition launched in the year
2011 comprising the events that happened in the year
2010 as the Annual Edition ’10, the team has been
continuously e-launching varied editions. Till now, all the

The present Edition has also been e-launched while the institution
is doing its best to produce hard-copies of the newsletter for a better
reach amidst the students so that they can be aware of all the events in
the college. The Annual Edition ’14 has been designed and sculptured in a
very professional way taking into account all happenings in the college
during the year. I convey my best wishes to the team for its vigor and
enthusiasm in making this newsletter. Through the pages of the newsletter, I hope
that many more students will come forward to make use of their creativity to
contribute to the newsletter. Let GCE Chronicles be the voice of the college in

Remarkable Contribution by R&D Center of GCES
Research and Development center of GCE, Salem made its debut contribution to the society through its new
super computer STEM 1.0 on 29th December, 2014. This new super computer predicted the approximate location of
debris of Air Asia passenger plane which recently vanished in the region of Java Sea along with 162 passengers and its
crew. A simulation was carried out in the computer with input parameters like climatic conditions, geometry of the
aircraft and the results were obtained. Careful observation of the results predicted that there was a high probability of
finding debris of this missing aircraft in the vicinity of Manger region in Java Sea. This news was reported by the Principal,
Dr. R.S.D. Wahida Banu on 30, December, 2014 to senior government officials and media.
