We commend him for his leadership which resulted in another "Star Council" year getting several new programs started of which we all can be proud. Thank you to Brother Alfred Aviles, who has served in the position of Financial Secretary the past three years, for a job well done. I am excited about my role as Grand Knight for the coming 2016-2017 year and thank all of you for your trust and support. Deputy Grand Knight, Joe Loewenguth, and other new officers will be a great help in completing the following programs and goals for the following year: Continue our community and family programs (Basketball Free-throw, Scouting program, Star viewing Morning breakfasts, Tootsie Roll Program etc.) Sponsor School programs for Drug Awareness, Keep Christ in Christmas and Alter Service Awards. Establish a "Buddy" program for new Knights. Beautification Days at the parishes. Increase participation of members for meeting, council programs and events. Review Fund Raising programs Establish an Admission Degree (Formerly 1 st First Degree) Exemplifications Team. Qualify for Star Council. Joe and Corky Loewenguth did one super job of organizing last week's Night at the Races. It was great to have so many Brother Knights and new Brother Knights participate in the evening festivities. Grand Knight’s Letter July 2016

Brother Knights,

As we begin a new Fraternal Year on July 1, 2016, we also look back on a very successful past year for

Father Maher Council #648 with Grand Knight, Frank Herrington, at the helm. We commend him for his

leadership which resulted in another "Star Council" year getting several new programs started of which

we all can be proud. Thank you to Brother Alfred Aviles, who has served in the position of Financial

I am excited about my role as Grand Knight for the coming 2016-2017 year and thank all of you for your

Brother Greg Sauve' and the Northeast Florida Astronomical Society will be at St. Matthews Church for

celestial viewing the evening of July 9,2016. Bring the family and see the spectacular rings of Saturn,

the Moons of Jupiter among other interesting celestial objects. Viewing will begin at 8:30 pm. This

event is hosted by the Knights of Columbus Father Maher Council #648. There will be several telescopes

setup for viewing and soda, popcorn, and hot dogs on a donation basis. This is a quarterly family

program so let's all support this event!

Please voice your thoughts, ideas, and volunteer for the coming year. We need all Brother Knights to

take part in the good things the Father Maher Council #648 does for the Parishes and Community.

Our General Meeting for June is Thursday July 14th with the pizza social starting at 6:15 and the meeting starting at 7:00.

On Saturday July 9th at 8:00 we will host celestial viewing of planets, stars, galaxies. Join us for Knights Under the Stars.

Pancake Breakfast July 24th at St. Matthews Catholic Church After the 8:30 and 10:30 Masses.
