For over 100 years Cranleigh Choral Society has provided a wealth of music to

the people of Cranleigh and its

surrounding villages.

Today the society provides an opportunity for local people to take part in high-level

music making at the centre of the Cranleigh community. Members meet for

rehearsals on Monday evenings in term

time and the society normally presents three concerts a year in the village. In the

past, these have included a successful joint performance in Guildford Cathedral,

Christmas concerts in our beautiful St.

Nicolas’ Church and ever popular summer concerts in the village hall. It is a

wonderful opportunity for people to meet and become part of a society of music

enthusiasts both in and out of rehearsals.

We are very fortunate to have Marcus

Pashley as our Musical Director.

In these increasingly difficult times for all in the performing arts, it is crucial that we

find ways to keep our financial situation

healthy. The main proportion of our revenue is self-generated. Members’

subscriptions cover hire of rehearsal venues, rehearsal accompanists and

similar expenses, but individual donations

and sponsorship form a vital part of the additional income needed to reduce the

losses we inevitably make in staging performances with professional orchestras

and soloists.
