JAMMU, May 9: Scriptingresounding victories over theirrivals in the finals, Jodhamal
School Jammu and KCInternational School claimedthe title trophies in footballUnder-14 and Under-17 boystournament, organized by theDepartment of Youth Servicesand Sports at GGM ScienceCollege Football Ground, heretoday.
Jodhamal School defeatedHeritage School by three goalsto two (3-2) in the final to claimthe football Under-14 boys tro-phy. Rohan Gupta, HimanshuSharma and Aayush scored onegoal each for Jodhamal, whilefor Heritage, Amitabh Koushaland Aryan Sethi were the goalscorers.
Earlier, in the semifinalsJodhamal defeated MHACNagbani by the same margin.
In another semifinal,Heritage School got better oftitle Tots by three goals to two.
In football Under-17 boys,KC International defeated itsrival by two goals to nil (2-0),with Vikram scoring both goals.
Meanwhile, at Jammu zone,
the competitions in kho-kho,kabaddi and volleyball wereheld under the supervision ofKiran Jyoti, zonal physical edu-cation officer, while Principal
Kamla Kumari was the chiefguest on the occasion.
SOS, DPS and HS KachiChawni emerged winners inkho-kho, kabaddi and volleyballevents respectively.
At Marh zone, the competi-tions were held under the super-vision of zonal physical educa-tion officer, Marh, ChanchalKour at Government HigherSecondary School Domana.
GHS Shamachak defeatedHS Marh Bagh in kho-khoUnder-17 girls final, while inkho-kho Under-14 girls titleclash, GHS Sangrampur defeat-ed GHS Shamachak by 5 points.
In kabaddi Under-17 girls,GHS Gou Manasan drubbed HSSangrampur by 18 points, whilein kabaddi Under-14 girls,GGMS Akalpur outplayedGGHS Gole Gujral by 2 points.
The matches were officiatedby Pritipal Singh, Tilak Raj,Ravi Kumar, Jai Singh, JaiKrishan Pandita, Pritam Lal,Jatin Sethi and Ajeet Singh.
At Gandhi Nagar zone, the
matches were held under thesupervision of Jeet Singh, zonalphysical education officer,Gandhi Nagar, while SromanDogra, zonal physical educationofficer, Satwari was the chiefguest on the occasion.
Kho-kho Under-14 andUnder-17 events were heldwhich were officiated bySatvinder Kour, Ram Murti,Dalbir Kour, Ashnak Raj, JasbirSingh, Chamel Singh and oth-ers.
At Miran Sahib zone, thetournament held under thesupervision of Sarita Pandha,ZPEO Miran Sahib concludedtoday.
Government High SchoolBadyal Brahmana won kabaddiUnder-14 and Under-17 titles,while Adarsh Niketan BadyalBrahamana claimed Under-17volleyball title.
DYSSO, Jammu, TirathRam was the chief guest on theoccasion.

At Satwari zone, kabaddi,volleyball and kho-kho tourna-ment was held at HS Satwariand the matches were officiatedby Harvinder Singh, JasbirKour, Jitinder Kour, PapinderKour, Assa Singh, Neelam Rani,Vishal Singh, Vishal Balotraand others.
At Bishnah zone, the Inter-School tournament in the disci-plines of kabaddi, kho-kho andvolleyball concluded at BoysHSS, Bishnah under the super-vision of Manjeet Kour, ZPEOBishnah, while Tirath Ram,DYSSO Jammu was the chiefguest on the occasion and SatyaDevi Principal, HSS Bishnahwas the guest of honour.

Divisional Traffic Manager,Northern Railway Jammu, R. NMeena was the chief guest on theoccasion while Deputy DirectorInformation, Dr Narupa Rai wasthe guest of honour.
The function was presidedover by Deputy Commissioner(KVS JR) A S Gill while seniorarmy officers, VMC members,Principals of KVs and Principalsof other schools were also pres-ent.
The Principal M LaxmiNarayan, presented annual reportof the school highlighting theactivities conducted during thesession and the landmarks madeby the school in academics aswell as curricular activities.
A colourful cultural pro-gramme was presented, whichmesmerized the august gathering.
The ‘Dash Avtaras’ who guid-ed and salvaged humanity wasunique and greatly appreciatedwhile ‘Bharat Darshan’ compris-ing dance forms from differentStates created a wonderful ambi-ence.
The Principal of the schoolwas honoured for winning theBharat Vidya Shiromani awardby Indian Solidarity Council andalso Rashtriya Vidya Gaurav goldmedal by International Institute ofEducation and Management. Themeritorious teachers and studentswere also honoured with certifi-cates and prizes.
The chief guest complimentedthe Principal, staff and studentsfor their efforts, and hoped theywould create new arenas ofaccomplishment in the forthcom-ing session.

GANDERBAL, May 9:Chief Minister, Omar Abdullahtoday inaugurated Sher-i-Kashmir T-20 CricketTournament here by filliping thecoin for the two teams participat-ing in the inaugural match. Healso did some batting on the pitch.
The team members wereintroduced to the Chief Ministerwho interacted with them andwished them good luck and suc-cess. He told them to upholdsportsmen spirit under all cir-cumstances and exhibit highestdegree of discipline. "Losing orwinning of a game is immaterial
but participating as worthysports persons, performing toonce best capacity and maintain-ing quality of conduct while ply-ing is counted a lot at the end ofthe day", he told the players.
The Tournament which isbeing organized by YouthNational Conference is partici-pated by 140 cricket teams fromall across the State. Minister forHigher Education, MohammadAkbar Loan, Minister of Statefor Animal Husbandry, NazirAhmad Gurezi and Legislatorand Provincial President NC,Kashmir Nasir Aslam Wani werepresent on the occasion.

Earlier, in kho-kho Under-17girls, HS Basti Gulab Garhdefeated GHSS RS Pura by 1point (8-7), while in Under-14girls final, HS Seerbalah defeat-ed HS Rangpura Mulana by 2point (6-4).

A huge rally was taken outby the students and staff of theSchool which was flagged off bythe Principal Jagdish RajSharma in the presence ofprominent citizens, elected rep-resentatives and SHO PouniPushpinder Singh.
It passed through MainBazaar of Pouni with the stu-dents raising slogans and hold-
ing placards depicting themeBiodiversity.
A debate was also organisedon the importance of conserva-tion of Environment for futuregeneration.
15 students participated inthe final round in which RubiSharma scored first positionwhile Aditya Sharma and Sonamshared second position andAshutosh Kesar clamed the thirdposition. They were awardedprizes by the Principal JagdishRaj Sharma, who exhorted uponthe students to become torchbearers for the society as theyare the best instruments for mak-ing conceptual change in theenvironment conservation.

According to a handoutissued here the teams interestedto take part in the Veteran tour-nament will have to submit theirentries by or before May 14,2013 and those interested to par-ticipate in the Open tournamentwill have to submit the same byor before May 15, 2013 withpresident Parade SportsAssociation at its Office inParade Ground Jammu.
