Project Ideas
This Holiday Season think about ways you have begun a
project without even knowing it! Is there a question or
problem that needs solved?
Maybe you made a craft or other art work at school or church and you don’t know
what to do with it? Did you learn about a favorite Christmas Carol or special percus-
sion instrument and don’t know what to do with all that information? What can you
do next and make it a project?
Ask Mandy or Susan at the office or your Club Leaders to help you
turn something you are already doing into a project for 2013 Fair!
HINT: Ask a question first! Then investigate and research all the ways to answer the question.
Choose which answer you will use.
Finally, determine the project area the answer falls under!
GOOD LUCK and make a lasting impact!

Media Choice photography honor—Camera Corps
Fremont County 4-H’er Jessica Lowthorp was select-ed as the Media Choice award winner at the 2012 4-H Camera Corps Gallery Exhibition in Des Moines.
Jessica Lowthorp of Sidney, a member of the Silver Sky-larks 4-H club, has participated in Camera Corps for two years. Her photo of a couple holding hands was selected by a panel of 12 representatives from the Des Moines area media community as the photo they felt was not only of high quality, but also best represented the Camera Corps theme.
Iowa Camera Corps is a statewide 4-H program for youth interested in photography. Each year, one main topic is as-signed, with smaller assignments, keeping with the theme, are handed out.
This year’s main topic was “American Life” and Lowthorp’s photo was taken as part of the “hands” special assignment.
Lowthorp, a junior at Sidney High School, chose to photo-graph mature hands for her photo assignment. The award was chosen prior to the exhibition reception in October, and
was identified throughout the exhibition with a commemorative ribbon.
The camera was given to her during the Silver Skylarks family night Nov. 17. Lowthorp’s hands photo was one of three she had on display at the gallery showing in Des Moines.
Because she was a 2012 award winner,
Lowthorp also received a Cannon T-3 digital
SLR camera, SD card and camera case.
2013 Camera Corps
Mitch Hoyer, Program Specialist for Iowa 4-H Youth Development, says plans are underway for the 2013 Camera Corps season!
Final plans, format, theme, and other information will be availa-ble after Jan. 1, 2013!
Look for more information next month!
