Backup Scheduling Options

● Different scheduling options helps to configure the backup schedules based on how frequently the successive backups are to be performed.

● User can choose from Hourly/Daily/Weekly options for the backup schedules from the console


Compression and Encryption

● The backup data is compressed to reduce the storage needs to save the backup.

● The backup data is also encrypted using AES 256 algorithm both at fly and rest

● user can save multiple customized encryption passwords along with its unique hint and choose from them in the encryption settings page or while configuring the backup

By default all the backup jobs of Vembu BDR Suite are encrypted, compressed and deduplicated


Application Aware Process

● This option allows you to stop the backup if any one of application writers (Eg: MS Exchange Writer) were in an unstable state or if VSS writers were not processed successfully after the snapshot

● Along with application consistency, it will truncate the logs based on the configuration

Application-aware process is to create consistent database snapshots by quiescing the applications using Microsoft VSS


● Backup verification can be automated to run post completion of every backup schedule or once in a day

● In the process, booting of backed up Virtual Machine will be carried out and screenshot of booted screen will be sent to administrators via email

FULL BACKUP

● During initial full backup from host machine, Microsoft VSS services initiates the snapshot in the configured guest machine through “Vembu integration service”.

● Vembu Free Edition licence will be activated after 30-days of free trial

● In Vembu BDR Suite-Free edition, there is no limitation to number of sockets, VMs and servers.

● The download and install of Vembu BDR Suite is same for both free and paid edition, but the functionality depends on the licence being applied

● The paid edition requires the licence to be applied from the Vembu Portal and it is limited to the number of sockets or VMs and servers which has been purchased from portal

● The user can easily upgrade from free to paid version by applying the licence from Vembu portal


Managing Licenses

● To buy licenses, you need to create an account for your company in Vembu Portal ( https://portal.vembu.com ). Vembu Portal is a centralized server which manages all of your Vembu Licenses from one place

● Once you have successfully signed up, goto “Buy” page and choose the license quantity and pay for the licenses

● Purchased licenses will be allocated to your account immediately and you can view them under “License” page

● These licenses will be automatically mapped with your existing backup jobs
