You are God’s treasured creation….
He has a place in this world that only you can fill….
But school doesn’t always bring out the best in you…But school doesn’t always bring out the best in you…
In fact, even the best students often hate
school…
In fact, even the best students often hate
school…
It’s not the learning they hate…
It’s not the learning they hate…
It’s the way they have to do it….
Not a morning person?
Not a morning person?
School starts very early…
Need to talk through things?
You have to be quiet in class…
Need to get a mental picture?
You’ll get in trouble
for daydreaming…
You’ll get in trouble
for daydreaming…
Restless? Need to keep moving?
You’re told to sit still and pay attention.
Concentrate better when you eat or drink?
NO FOOD OR DRINK in the classroom….
Even incredibly capable students…
can shut down during formal tests…
and they can start thinking maybe they’re
not that smart after all….
But we often insist you act and learn like all the rest.
We tell you that your generation can change the
world…
This year, youcan take chargeof your own success.
This year,it can bedifferent.
Teachers truly want their
students to learn.
But adults can’t seem to do it—
We’ve tried for decades to improve education…
and not enough
common sense…
Too much
intellect,
Too much
politics,
and not enough
humanity…
But students—
now that’s a different story…
Why don’t we let you tell us
how to make educationmore effective?
Education is about
students, right?
So we need to ask the learners how they
learn best…
And if they really know, we have to changethe way we educate them.
So, here is the powerful message:
Don’t expect the system to accommodate you--
The only way it’s ever going to really change…
is if you can provewhat actually works.
So here’s what you do--
1. Know yourstrengths.
2.Figure outwhat you
need to
succeed.
3. Be ready to prove it works.
No excuses!
even if no one
changesbut you…
You can survive and thrive in school…
It’s not about giving up or“ dumbing down”--
It’s about your SUCCESS,and how to achieve it…
…even if no one is trying
harder than you
are.
It’s about taking responsibility, not just expecting teachers to do all the work.
And in the end, we might just change the world….
