The Order of Saint Lazarus Gives to the Foundation

Look where your donations are going!2008 – 2009 has been very exciting

for the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation!

This year we wrapped up the Donate for Dignity Campaign at a grand total of $60,000, exceeding our target of $51,000 and still donations continued. Facility Manager Rob Zwicker always has a smile on his face as we report more funds available. Our hospital is well equipped through your support. The Foundation also purchased Christmas decorations to cheer our patients (especially the younger ones who may be fearful!) We hope to announce a new campaign as the economy settles. In these difficult times your donations mean more than ever. The Foundation is always busy between campaigns and this year is no exception. Our annual strategic planning session resulted in a plan to formalize Planned Giving for the hospital. We are setting up a committee to research and shepherd the program. We have always been happy to receive bequests, but

this will clarify our policies and make it easier to assist anyone intending this kind of giving. Spring is Annual General Meeting time and ours is open to the public. We would love to see you on Wednesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. in the hospital boardroom. Meanwhile work at the hospital continues with day surgeries increasing. The lab and inpatient areas are as busy as ever, as is outpatients and physiotherapy. All of those areas have benefited from your support. We can’t say thank you enough!

Foundation Enjoys Success of Employee Lottery Over 80% of the staff at the Sackville Memorial Hospital participate in an employee lottery with all proceeds to the Foundation. Staff who have signed up for the lottery have $5 taken off each pay which gives them a chance to win $1,000, $200 or 500 airmiles every payday! So far, the lottery has raised $13,000 for the SMH since it started in September 2007. The lottery is open to all Regional Health Authority B, Moncton Zone staff. Lucky winners from Sackville so far include from left to right: Scott Johnson, Jessica Brooks and Rob Zwicker. Missing from photo are: Dianna Hopkins, Tanya Tower and Toby Estabrooks.
