Currently, we have around 55 kids in two standards Nursery and Jr. KG and a dedicated full-time teacher and assistant teacher to teach them. December Month:

Activities:

1. Nursery: - Strawberry color with finger print

2. Jr. KG: - Paper Boat making: children made origami boats.

- Reading competition.

- Red color decorative things making

3. Sr. KG: - Drawing shapes and filling them using different

patterns.

- Card Making

- Red color decorative things making

- Apple color activity

- Transport water experiment

- Story telling activity

- Paper flower making activity

Celebrations:

1. Eid Celebration Background: Celebration of Eid to respect the Islamic religion like all other religions.

Purpose: To respect other religion and understand various cultures

Activity:

- Students met each other and wished ‘Eid -Mubarak’.

- Sweets were distributed among kids

2. Christmas Day celebration and Red Color Day

Background:

- Christmas is a Christian festival, it is celebrated

by people all around the world on

Dec. 25th and is marked as the birth of Jesus

Christ.

Purpose:

- Christmas is celebrated through carols, cakes,

candles and decorating Christmas trees.

- During the day, the family goes to church to

pray.

- The purpose of celebration was to let the kids

know about Christian culture and their rituals.

Activity:

- Decorating Christmas tree

- Singing carols

- Distribution of gifts by a Santa Claus

3. Recipe Competition Background:

- To represent the talent of mothers of our school children.

Purpose:

- To encourage the mothers to make tasty and

healthy food using easily available, low coast and

nutritious ingredients.

Activity:

- The mothers made healthy and tasty dishes using

easily available food items, labelled their items

and brought them in school from home and

served it in a beautiful manner.

- They were given suggestions by the jury about

how their recipes could be healthier and tastier.

4. Exhibition of shelters: Background:

- To show different types of houses, rooms in

house etc.

Purpose:

- To let children, understand various types of

houses for different living beings and different

types of rooms in the house.

Activity:

- Parents made different types of houses, animal

Sheds, different types of rooms in a house,

labelled them and exhibited in a wonderful

manner

1. White color day Background:

- To understand the concept of white color. Purpose:

- Identification of white color Activity:

- The children wore white colored dresses and brought white colored kites.

2. Makar Sankranti celebration Background:

- Distributing Tilgul (a sweet made with sesame seeds and jaggery) among children and Celebration of festival of kites.

Background: - To understand the importance of sports and

physical fitness Purpose:

- To help children understand the importance of sports, working as a team and sportsman spirit

Activity: - Various competitive games were organized

for kids as well as parents. Winners were felicitated with prizes.

February Month:

1. Nursery: - Painting with Brush

2. Jr. KG: - Making paper envelope activity

- Plantation using seeds

3. Sr. KG: - Purple color activity using Rangoli

- Plantation using seeds

- Plantation was done by children using various types of seeds (Sr. Kg).

- Importance of plants, its basic elements,

required sources for plants to survive etc.

Activities and Celebrations

Nursery and Jr. KG

1. Exhibition on ‘Shelters’ and parents meeting - 2/12/17

Background:

- Children were provided information on

shelters with proper resources.

- shelters have the capacity to provide the

range of protection and support services

necessary, it was an introductory session

for kids.

- We introduced them about shelters like –

human- house, birds-Nest, lion - territory,

Rabbit – hole etc.

Purpose:

- Importance of shelter was discussed and

children were explained about how difficult it is to live without proper shelters.

Activity:

- Lots of efforts were taken by parents.

- Parents made different types of shelters for the exhibition and they also presented the projects

made by them with the respective information.

2. Healthy Recipe Session and competition (National Nutrition Day) - 21/12/17:

Background:

- Coming from marginalized communities, parents

are usually not very cognizant about importance

of nutritious food, health etc.

- Their daily challenges hold them back from

knowing about things that are crucial for their

children’s growth and development.

- Keeping the same in mind, SNEH preschool took

an initiative under which, parents were taught low

cost nutritious recipes.

- Slum’s day to day life is very different comparative

to other areas, so we taught some easy and low

cost healthy recipes to all parents.

Purpose:

- Knowledge about food that give essential nutrients

were provided to our kids.

- The purpose of this activity was to educate parents

about low cost healthy recipes that are easy to

make and are very essential are necessary.

3. Green Day - 21/12/17: Background:

- Sometimes color identification is difficult for kids.

When we celebrate color day it helps them to

identify and differentiate basic colors that are

necessary for further conceptual understanding.

Purpose: - Activity based learning is the only purpose of this

activity.

- This activity helped them to identify green color

and identify things like vegetables, trees, clothes

having green color.

- They can easily recognize green color or any green

things like green vegetables, trees etc.

Activity:

- All the students were dresses in green colored clothes and had brought green vegetables,

balloons or other green material as per the availability.

- An activity named: choose the odd color out was also taken to reinforce the concept of green

color.

4. Christmas Celebration - 22/12/17:

Background:

- Celebration of the birth of Jesus.

Purpose:

- The purpose of celebration of Christmas was

that students must know different types of

festivals in India and the diversity of religions,

cultures etc.

- The main purpose was to educate children

about a Christian festival as we celebrate other

festivals too.

Activity:

- Distribution of gifts, chocolates, cakes children were also given an opportunity to dance, sing and

spend time with the Santa Claus.

January Month

Activities

Nursery:

- Number and letter identification, jumping on

numbers, jumping on letters.

- Coloring the picture.

Jr. Kg

- Match the capital letters with small letters with

the help of pictures, match the pairs capital to

small letters with the help of pictorial cards,

number counting game.

- Color identification

Celebrations

1. Black Day - 12/1/18: Purpose:

- Color identification.

Activity:

- All the students and wore black colored clothes

and had brought to school things that were black

in color and were easily available at home.

2. Makar Sankranti celebration and Blue Day - 16/1/18

Purpose:

- To let the students, know the importance of

Makar Sankranti and the reason behind the

celebration.

Activities:

- Students prepared things like kites that are

significant on the day of Makar Sankranti along

with other craft work like blue colored fish,

painted pictures of sky, sea water etc.

3. Yellow Day Celebration - 24/1/18

Purpose:

- Color identification.

Activity:

- Activity based learning is the only purpose of

these types of activities, all kids and staff wore

yellow colored clothes and accessories.

- Parents made yellow colored craft samples with

yellow chart papers like sun, star, lamp, pot, ball

etc.

4. Republic Day - 26/1/18

Purpose:

- To help the parents and students understand the

historical significance of Republic Day.

Activity: - Flag hosting with the presence of kids, parents, SNEH

staff, volunteers and community members. Sports day

was organized along with speech by parents and

teachers and prize distribution for kids.
