TRILLIUM is a member of the ON-TARIO ENVIRONMENT NETWORK. It is alsoa f inancial SHIELD agency created bythe GOVERNMENT OFONTARIO to providedirect funding to organizations in the EN-

VIRONMENTALTERROR MOVEMENT. Thissituation represents one of the great de-ceptive practices of our society. Govern-ment money acquired from honest and hard working people in the GREENSPACE INDUSTRY are refunnelled through TRILLIUM to culprits that promoteand plot for their annihilation by prohibiting the legal, safe, and totally irre-placeable pest control products.

For example, since 1999, WORLD WILDLIFE FUND OF CANADA (W.W.F.)alone has been provided with almostonequarter of a mil l ion dol lars by

TRILLIUM. Thanks to the generosity of TRILLIUM, W.W.F. had the meansand/or the infrastructure to legally challenge the GREEN SPACE INDUSTRY in

the HudsonSupremeCourt affair. As we all know, on June 28 th, 2001, THESUPREME COURT OF CANADA unfortunately upheld the bylaw enacted by theTOWN OF HUDSON which prohibited the use of pest control products for thePROFESSIONAL LAWN CARE INDUSTRY and DOITYOURSELF HOMEOWNERS.Agriculture and golf clubs were exempted.

THE ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION is the largest funder of the environ-

mental not

for

profit sector in Ontario. Between 2001 and 2006, TRILLIUMfunded over 600 environmental projects across Ontario worth more than 47mil l ion dol lars . These grants supported a wide range of communitybasedand provincewide initiatives in areas as diverse as public education, the resto-ration of wildlife habitat, environmental health, and energy conservation.

THE ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION annual funding was boosted to

105 mill ion from 100 mill ion dollars in 2007, and will be further in-creased to 120 mill ion dollars in 20092010. This enhanced funding hasresulted in an increase to the maximum amount available for capital grantsand the creation of a twomill iondollar FUTURE FUND, which focused in

20072008 on strengthening the activities of ENVIRONMENTALTERROR OR-GANIZATIONS. ( i.e. the COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT ) While the GOVERN-MENT OF ONTARIO was seemingly listening to all interested parties regardingthe fate of COSMETIC PESTICIDES , it was ostensibly conspiring towards thedemise of the GREEN SPACE INDUSTRY by financing the ENVIRONMENTAL

TERRORMOVEMENT.

In 20072008 alone, almostonehalf mill ion dollars was providedby THE ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION to groups in the ENVIRONMENTALTERRORMOVEMENTdedicated to the destruction of the GREEN SPACE INDUS-TRY by conspiring to prohibit legal, safe, and totally irreplaceable pest control

products. During the period 19992009, over oneandahalf million dol-lars was provided to the movement. As we all know, the PROVINCE OF ON-

TARIO introduced legislation for the COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT on April

22nd, 2008. Thanks to TRILLIUM funding, public affairs lobbying, and adver-tising campaigns orchestrated by the ENVIRONMENTALTERROR MOVEMENT

were financially strong enough to guarantee the passage of the Ontario COS-METIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT. TRILLIUM will likely claim that the money wasnever given for this purpose. But hey! TRILLIUMdid pay for some of the in-frastructures of the ENVIRONMENTALTERROR ORGANIZATIONS. Evidently,most of them used TRILLIUMmoney, directly or indirectly, to change public pol-icy concerning COSMETIC PESTICIDES . It may be a clear conflictofinterestto use government money for the purpose of promoting prohibitions of legal,safe, and irreplaceable pest control products.

Coincidentally, large sums of money were provided by THE ONTARIOTRILLIUMFOUNDATION during the period of time covering the public debates on

the Toronto prohibition and the Ontario prohibition (20012008). As we allknow, the COURT OF APPEAL FOR ONTARIO concluded in 2004 that the CIT Y

OF TORONTOdid have the authority to pass its bylaw which restricted the use

of pest control products. In 2008, the COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT waslegislated by the GOVERNMENT OFONTARIO. The success of these prohibitions

were clearly financed byTRILLIUM, as well as other sources.

William H. Gathercole holds a degree in Horticulture from the UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH, and another pure and applied science degree

from MCGILL UNIVERSITY. He has worked in virtually all aspects of the GREEN SPACE INDUSTRY, including public affairs, per-sonal safety, and environmental issues. Mr. Gathercole has been a consultant and instructor for decades. He has also been an agricultural

agronomist. Mr. Gathercole has followed the evolution of ENVIRONMENTAL TERRORISM for over a quartercentury. His involve-ment in environmental issues reached a fevered pitch in the 1990s, when he orchestrated, with others, legal action against unethical and exces-sive municipal regulations restricting the use of pest control products. ( i.e. the Town of Hudson. ) Although he can be accused of beingANTIENVIRONMENTMOVEMENT, he is, in fact, simply a strong advocate FOR the GREEN SPACE INDUSTRY, from an IN-DEPENDENDT PERSPECTIVE. However, this position has not precluded him from criticizing the Green Space Industry itself. Nonethe-less, his vast knowledge of our long journey with environmental issues is UNDENIABLE. ( Hopefully ! ) For many years, Mr. Gathercolehas been a contributing columnist for TURF & RECREATION Magazine, Canadas Turf and Grounds Maintenance Authority.
