City Life Wheels Finds a Home I recently met a young man named Kenny. Kenny had rarely done anything with a car and was excited when I asked him to join me under the hood. After 15 minutes and a successful battery replacement he was beaming. His girlfriend came by to find out what was going on. He proudly told her what he had done. Kenny’s story is full of heartache. He is bright and resourceful and hungry for an opportunity to see his talents come to light. The heart of CLW is to give young people like Kenny direction and to help them realize their gifts and value as children of God. Kenny hopes to be one of our first official participants. After almost a year of searching, a permanent home has been found for the City Life Wheels (CLW) ministry. CLW is a hands- on program where the students do the actual maintenance and repair work on cars donated to the program. This offers them job skills, self-confidence and a way to provide for their future families. The new garage space is located at Rural and Washington and will be rented from Shepherd Community Center. “The garage is taking shape quickly,” Nate Hershey, CLW Director said, “Volunteers from multiple churches cleared out a very cluttered space of about 5000 square feet in just a few hours! The first few Wheels students participated and interest from youth in the neighborhood is growing.” Volunteers are also helping with lighting, plumbing and tool donations. “We are excited to see how God has provided in very practical ways!” Hershey said. I recently met a young man named Kenny. Kenny had rarely done anything with a car and was excited when I asked him to join me under the hood. After 15 minutes and a successful battery replacement he was beaming. His girlfriend came by to fi nd out what was going on. He proudly told her what he had done. Kenny’s story is full of heartache. He is bright and resourceful and hungry for an opportunity to see his talents come to light. The heart of CLW is to give young people like Kenny direction and to help them realize their gifts and value as children of God. Kenny hopes to be one of our fi rst offi cial participants.

Ministry Updates

We are excited about new leaders and the momentum we have in all four of our ministry sites located downtown, in Southport and in Boone County. If you’re interested in joining the TP team contact Susie Jordan at [email protected].

High schoolers enjoyed a day of tobogganing in January while middle schoolers went skiing in February. No broken bones reported! Over 20 HS kids attended a 3-Story evangelism training weekend.

profileMike Robertson Mike’s partnership with CIYFC began in 2008 when he was asked to be a part of the Teen Parents Steering Committee. “I was the ‘token male’ on the committee,” Mike remembers. But Mike quickly became committed to CIYFC’s mission of reaching every young person. “Statistics show that teens and pre-teens are when most people entrust their lives to Christ,” said Mike, “CIYFC

allows me to help in the biggest commitment of one’s life.” Mike became a board member in 2010 and has been treasurer since 2011. With his accounting background Mike has been a tremendous asset in the CIYFC fi nancial offi ce establishing fi nancial reporting standards. Mike is a certifi ed public accountant and has owned his own practice for 22 years in central Indiana. He graduated from Manchester University and is married to his college sweetheart, Jill. They have two sons. He is a self proclaimed adrenalin junky and races modifi ed outboard hydroplanes across the United States.
