GROW campaign Everything connects: gender inequality, land rights, climate change, food and oil prices, diminishing crop yields. These issues combine to create a system that directly impacts how we feed the world now and in the future. To ensure that the Sustainable Development Goals, including zero hunger, become a reality, we need new ideas that hold a promise of a better future for many—not just a privileged few. Oxfam’s GROW campaign systematically tackles these issues by working to mobilise impacted communities and active consumers alike. GROW focuses on investment in agriculture, the effects of climate change, and securing access to productive resources, especially land. Things are changing. There are no more rains and we are now struggling to harvest. The rains are not coming on time and the times we used to grow and harvest crops have changed. – Ipaishe Masvingise, Gutu, Zimbabwe. GROW campaign

Everything connects: gender inequality, land rights,

climate change, food and oil prices, diminishing crop

yields. These issues combine to create a system that

directly impacts how we feed the world now and in the

future.

To ensure that the Sustainable Development Goals,

including zero hunger, become a reality, we need new

ideas that hold a promise of a better future for many—not

just a privileged few.

Oxfam’s GROW campaign systematically tackles these

issues by working to mobilise impacted communities and

active consumers alike. GROW focuses on investment in

agriculture, the effects of climate change, and securing

access to productive resources, especially land.

Things are changing. There are no more rains and we are now struggling to harvest. The rains are not coming on time and the times we used to grow and harvest crops have changed.

PuRPOSEOxfam’s GROW campaign works for the billions of us who eat food—and for the more than one billion men and women who grow it. Through addressing inequality as a key to claiming power, Oxfam’s GROW campaign makes it possible for communities to grow or buy enough food now and in the future.

To achieve this, we work with governments, multilateral institutions and companies to adopt and implement policies that promote sustainable food production and consumption. Because of our vibrant network in more than 90 countries, Oxfam demonstrates on the ground impact as well as strategic global reach.

PROMISEOxfam Novib works to amplify the voices of the people living in poverty on issues of land, water and climate change.

• Topreventclimatechangefrommaking people hungry, we will ensure that communities vulnerable to climate change have greater access to finance and other forms of support, while also negotiating with governments and companies to cut carbon emissions.• ToreachtheSustainableDevelopment Goal of zero hunger by 2030, we will push governments to increase funding for

small-scale food production and encourage a greater proportion of private investment in agriculture. • Tostrengthenthelandrightsofwomen, men and communities, we will push for national reforms and better practices by companies and investors.

PERfORMancE Oxfam Novib believes in supporting people to claim power in the fight against hunger, whether that is poor communities fighting for nutritious food to feed their families, or middle class consumers fighting for quality, choice and affordability. We strive to do this with women’s rights always at the center of our work. We help to build worldwide public movements around sustainable consumption and the role of consumers as active agents of change. We also hold governments and private sector actors to account to ensure their actions respect the rights of women, food producers and vulnerable communities.

PROOf Oxfam Novib works at multiple levels to improve our global food system to guarantee that all people realise their right to food. Someofourrecentsuccessesare:

Oxfam is a world-wide development organisation that mobilises the power of people against poverty. around the globe, we work to find practical, innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive. Oxfam novib is one of 17 affiliates of the Oxfam confederation, who together work with local partners in 94 countries.

We need to address the question of global hunger not as one of production only, but also as one of marginalization, deepening inequalities and social injustice. We live in a world in which we produce more food than ever before, and in which the hungry have never been as many.
