    It transports Harley, Gold Wing, street or dirt bike, or sport cycle anywhere.

    Then it can be folded up to store anywhere. This trailer is strong enough to

    haul the big bikes.

    1.2 Folding trailer:

    It is used to carry house or other heavy stuff and can be towed by any vehicle.

    This kind of trailers has pre-drilled holes on the top of the frame rails to attach

    flooring material. It is easy to be assembled. In most cases; assembly can be

    completed in approximately 2 hours. Once assembled, it can be simply folded

    up for easy storage in a compact area of any garage, barn or shed.

    1.8 Heavy duty equipment trailers:

    The heavy duty equipment trailers are designed and constructed using a

    channel iron mainframe and tubing cross-members, and axles that can bear

    the load. A front, manual jack system operates the tilting deck providing

    simple and trouble free use. A removable top offers increased stability when

    lowering or raising the trailer.

    2. Sketches and concept of designs for a new

    folding trailer:

    2.1 Introduction:

    The new folding trailer which has been designed is branded as Ex2000-trailer

    (Figure 2.1).

    It is simply designed and strength enough to carry loads ranging from light

    load up to maximum 500Kgloads. Dimensions of the bed size are 100cm x

    240cm. (Figure (2.2)

    The folding trailer frame is constructed of 2" W x 3" H galvanized steel - C

    Channel shape with black powder coat finishes which protect the frame and

    prevent it from getting rusted (Figure 2.3).

    The main frame is supported with 6 members cross which make the frame

    stable and strong enough to stand the maximum load.

    One sheet of up to 1.9cmthickness plywood is cut into two 100cm x 120cm

    squares for the deck which is required to cover the bed of the folding trailer

    frame.

    2.2 Folding mechanism (storage instructions):

    The main bed consists of two equal beds which are connected together

    through rotation plate.

    Step1:

    The frame retention carriage bolts is unscrewed from each side of the trailer.

    Now the rear bed is ready to fold over the front bed (Figure 2.4).

    Step 2:

    The back bed is folded all the way over the front bed and secured by using

    frame retention carriage bolt unscrewed in step 1 (Figure 2.4).

    Step 3:

    The trailer is carefully tilted up.

    Step 4:

    The tow bar in front is folded back and can be secured by a piece of wire

    (Figure 2.5).

    Step 5:

    The folding trailer is tilted up completely into the storage position (Figure 5).

    It is advisable to break the trailer down to as close to the storage area as

    possible, because it reduces the possibility of damage to the assembly.

    3. Bill of materials:

    The main parts of the folding trailer are shown in picture 3.1.

    All the parts have been drawn in 2D and 3D according to BS8888.

    3.1 Standard parts:

    3.1.1 Trailer suspension units: 350Kgextended stub

    Independent un-braked suspension unit with profiled solid steel arm, 1 dia.

    Capacity:350 Kg per pair.

    Rubber Suspension Units are simple yet efficient assemblies based on high-

    density rubber inserts, which progressively compress as loading and tension

    increases. Being independent, suspension units permit unrivalled flexibility in

    trailer design .

    3.1.2 Mounting Beam:

    1000mm wide, 50mm x 25mm steel box section complete with 350kg pre-

    welded mounting plates. Mounting plate dimensions are 105x178mm with four

    10mm holes. Finished in black primer .

    3.1.3 Rim and wheel:

    8" - 4 stud, silver powder coated, pressed steel wheel rim, for light-duty

    trailers. Capacity:350Kg

    5. Design and assembly process:

    In assembling trailer parts are in order by standing at rear of trailer and

    looking toward tongue.

    In assembling the nuts and bolts shouldnt be completely tightened until

    the entire is assembled. Installing 2 cm Plywood base is the last step.

    Construction (strength):

    It is a big factor in strength. If the trailer is bolted together, the joints will

    act quite differently than if it is welded. Weldingand other construction

    techniques are thought can give strength and care in the trailer design.

    Step1:

    In this design all the front right side rail (FRR), front left side rail (FLR)

    and cross member (CM) are welded together which results in Front

    Bench(Figure 5.1).

    Rear right side rail (RRR), rear left side rail (RLR) and cross member

    (CM) are welded together which results in Rear Bench(Figure 5.1).

    Step 2:

    Right tow bar connecting rail (RTCR) and left tow bar connecting rail (LTCR)

    and cross member are welded together which results in Tow Bar(Figure 5.1).

    Step 3:

    Rotation plates (RP), left rotation plate (LRP) and right rotation plate (RRP)

    are welded to both sides of rear and front bench (Figure 5.1).

    Step 4:

    The tow bar connecting (TB) is attached to the front right and left rail by four

    M10x65 bolt and M10 Hex nut (Figure 5.1).

    Step 5:

    8 Stake clamps (SC) are attached to rails two on four sides by M10x30 bolt

    and M10 Hex nut (Figure 5.1)

    Step 6:

    T-plate (TP) is attached to tow bar in front by 4 M10x65 bolt and M10 Hex nut

    (Figure 5.2).

    Step 7:

    Bench support bracket (RSB) is attached to whole bench by 10 M10x30 bolt

    and 10 M10 Hex nut (Figure 5.2)

    Step 8:

    The 50mm x 25mm mounting beam (MB) is welded to underneath of Bench

    support bracket (Figure 5.3).

    Step 9:

    The suspension units (SU) are attached to mounting beam by 12 M10x30 bolt

    and Hex nut (Figure 5.3)

    Step 10:

    The 4-stud Hub (H) with grease nipple is attached to Suspension units with

    castle nut which included in suspension unit (Figure 5.4).

    Step 11:

    The 8 stud, silver powder coated, pressed steel wheel Rim/Tire (T/R-A) is

    attached to Hub by 4 M12 Hex nut (Figure 5.4).

    Step 12:

    Mudguard brackets (MB) are attached to rear bench by 2 M8x20 and Hex nut

    (Figure 5.4).

    Step 13:

    Mudguards (M) are attached to brackets by two M8x20 and Hex nut (Figure

    5.1).

    Step 14:

    Tail light brackets (TLB) are attached to back of rear bench by M10x30 bolt

    and M10 Hex nut (Figure 5.1).

    Step 15:

    Tail lights (LTL & RTL) are attached to brackets at the end of the rear in both

    sides.

    Step 16:

    Side flashing lights (SFL) are attached to front bench at both sides (Figure

    5.1).

    Step 17:

    Finally the 1.9cm Bench Covers (BC) which are made of Plywood are

    attached on top of each bench by 16 M10x30 bolt and Hex nut (Figure 5.1).

    Step 18:

    The Load Box (LB) which keeps loads is attached to 8 clamp stakes which

    have already been attached to benches (Figure 5.5).

    Step 19:The trailer coupling (TC) is attached to T-plate in front of Tow Bar by

    two M12 x 65 and Hex nut.

    Step 20:

    The final product appears as shown in figure 5.5.
