The Je� erson County District Attorney’s third annual Community Safety Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Je� erson County Fairgrounds, 15200 W. Sixth Ave., Golden. The event will include free document shredding — no limit; free small electronics recycling (small fee for large items); free prescription round-up; free 911 cell phones for seniors; free credit reports printed and reviewed by bank o� cers on-site; free bicycle rodeo for kids with free helmets; kids’ activi-ties including Ronald McDonald with his magic show at noon, bounce castles, face painting and craft tables; and more than 80 booths o� ering information, handouts and giveaways. A free parking lot shuttle will be available.
Brown-bag lunch with Twesigye Jackson Kaguri
An informational brown-bag lunch with Twesigye Jackson Kaguri will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 25, at HearthFire Books, 1254 Bergen Parkway. Auditions for the Evergreen Children’s Chorale
Auditions for the 2011-12 performance season of the Evergreen Children’s Chorale will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25. ECC’s developmental group, Prelude, will hold auditions on Aug. 30. Alzheimer’s fund-raiserBrightStar Care will host an Alzheimer’s
fund-raiser from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Creekside Cellars, 28036 High-way 74, Evergreen. The event will include a wine/appetizer tasting. Prices per ticket are $25, with $10 from each ticket being donated to the Alzheimer’s Association. There will also be a ra� e of bottles of wine donated by Creekside Cellars. Church of the Hills plans Community WORKship
Church of the Hills Presbyterian will host its Community WORKship on Sunday, Aug. 28, at the church, 28628 Bu� alo Park Road (on the hill across from the Evergreen Public Library). The program will consist of a vari-ety of projects to support a new home be-ing built in Kittredge. There will be a short service at 9 a.m. At 9:30 a.m. teams will de-part to Kittredge to work on the house and to build a picnic table for the new home, another team will work at the Habitat Re-sale Shop, and another (those younger than 16 years of age) will stay at church to paint birdhouses and “Welcome Home” signs for the family. All will return to the church at 12:30 p.m. for a picnic. It is requested that all families bring their own picnic lunch. Paper plates, napkins, etc. will be provided. Visit www.churchofthehills.com.
