This community interest company promotes and supports the building of

effective relationships and grew out of The TIFF Network, a values-led, personal

development organisation of practitioners. It was established by Dr Susannah

Temple who moved to Bristol from Devon 7 years ago. Her pioneering research led

to a model of positive and negative modes of behaviour and a Personal

Development Tool that shows how much energy individuals put into those different

modes. Both the model and the tool have been widely used in Personal &

Professional training in education, health care, commerce and industry.

Today The Fluent Self Company has members in the UK and in Holland and

Germany. They all work to spread the understanding and skills required in building

and sustaining positive and enabling relationships through effective communication.

Groups that have already benefited from their work include survivors of domestic

abuse, volunteers, workers who have been made redundant, managers and leaders

in the commercial, industrial and public sectors, parents of children in care and

teachers suffering from stress and burn-out.

The Fluent Self is currently working in partnership with statutory organisations

- the Chartered Institute for Environmental Health and Children’s Centres – the retail

industry – Waitrose - and the Third Sector - MIND in Bristol. Company members

offer a range of programmes: workshops, training, coaching and mentoring,

counselling and psychotherapy. Their work promotes well-being in the workplace

through empowering leadership and collaborative teamwork, produces high

performing, committed and can-do teams, and helps people to realise their full

potential.
