FLEUR RENDELL Abundance MEDIA RELEASE Exhibition Dates: 27 February - 18 March 2018 35 Derby Street Collingwood VIC 3066 Open 7 days 10am to 6pm Fleur Rendell’s linocuts are inspiring reflections on the splendour and magnificence of nature. A passionate observer of the natural world, Rendell’s depictions of the flowers from her garden and the glory of springtime are both striking and engaging in their imagery. Her masterful linocuts and monoprints are characterised by bold, clean lines and a vibrant colour palette. Her unique design aesthetic celebrates the patterns created by petals and leaves by condensing them to their most succinct form. Each brilliantly incisive shape feels almost emblematic, retaining its unique appeal while harmonising to the next. Her forms vibrate alone, and together, against a crisp white background which in its clarity becomes a dynamic part of the overall image. Petals, fronds, leaves and feathers joyously evoke the unique ambience and majesty of the Australian bush and lush gardens in spring. Rendell’s works conjure sensations of movement and growth, they are brimming with the energy of life and the artist’s tangible emotional connection to her environment. This exhibition presents a stylistic mix of works, ranging from simple, bold shapes to more complex, painterly prints, produced either in limited editions below ten, or as unique state works. Rendell’s work is alive, lyrical and invites the viewer to experience for themselves the intricate beauty and richness of the natural world. Abundance is current until 18 March 2018.
