Dear Readers of Flash & Fuse,
This is more than just a magazine; it’s a platform, a stage, and an outlet for artists who are dedicated to capturing culture and pursuing their passions. Using the power of collaboration, crowd sourcing, and community we are producing a publication that offers a unique view into one of the most empowered generations of artists and the cultures they are capturing. This golden age of art has opened up a new window into the cultures around us. Most importantly however, is that advancements in connectivity and technology have given us direct access to an ever expanding network of artists; artists who provide unique insights into these rich and nuanced cultures. By creating a platform that empowers such artists and allows them to reach larger audiences, Flash & Fuse will help develop a better understanding of the people we share this world with. In doing so we hope to create a more open and tolerant community.
As an artist and entrepreneur
I have dedicated my time towards finding ways to fuse business and art in proactive and constructive ways. I had originally founded Flash & Fuse as a means of showcasing developing artists while providing them access to larger audiences and portfolio/resume building opportunities. However, after combing through submissions from previous issues of Flash & Fuse I was surprised to see such a variety of artists all from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures. As I began collaborating with these artists, I realized that through their art they also provided incredibly unique and unbiased views into modern culture. Because of this we have chosen to take a more focused approach to future issues of Flash & Fuse: creating and showcasing content that is both beneficial to our contributing artists and culturally enriching for readers.

Figure out what emotion you are trying to convey. What elements around can you capture to deliver that message? It is always interesting to see how your audience responds to your images,
but you should always stay true to your own imagination and soul.

Where does your passion for photography originate from?
How were you introduced to the world of photography?
Growing up I was always interested in art, after playing as
a musician semi professionally for two years after school I went
back to College and studied an arts portfolio class, One
of the modules was analogue photography.
I fell in love with the medium, During my studies it switched
from analogue to almost entirely digital photography. All the way
up to My Hons degree.
How is photography currently involved in your life?
I am a full time working portrait and fashion photographer,
Photography is my life.
Film or digital? Why?
Digital for commission based work, Analogue (Film) for
personal work, digital is much more efficient for clients where
analogue is photographies roots, theres a magic to
analogue that is lost in digital.
How do you make your models more comfortable in front of the
camera?
I have fun with them, on pretty much every shoot it takes a
good amount of frames to be fired before everyone relaxes
into the shoot, regardless of level the model is working at.

What’s your favorite body/lens combination to shoot with?
Digital I Currently shoot with a Canon 5D mark III and primarily a 24-70mm L series Canon lens, I shoot 90% of my work using natural light, manipulating it simply using reflectors. Analogue, I shoot on a Pentax ME Super with a 35mm Lens, I recently picked up the Pentax second hand while working out in Italy, It fascinates me to think the life this little camera must have had.
If you had the chance to travel anywhere in the world to take photos, where would it be? Why?
I have visited Japan for a personal trip, while I was still studying photography and it blew me away, Id love to go back out there for commissioned work, the country has such a juxtaposition between the old capital of Kyoto and the new capital Tokyo. I spent my first part of my trip in the old rural Japan of Kyoto, temples, wooden carts, locals. I then went on to Osaka and Tokyo where it is the neon filled metropolis you would expect. Working in Japan would leave me with a beautiful backdrop to my work.
As a photographer, what does summer mean to you?
As a photographer primarily working with natural light in the UK, Summer means better light, for longer In the day. It also means, attempting to

shoot winter campaigns for the upcoming season all while on location.
In your opinion, what is the best networking tool for photographers and other artists?
I would say the best networking tool for photographers in modern day is The internet. more specifically Instagram (as its visual based) and LinkedIn, as its a platform for professionals.
How has collaboration helped you grow as an artist?
Its similar to a smaller band going on tour with the headline act, its showcases your work to a whole new, at times wider audience.
How do you fund your personal and portfolio projects?
I tend to shoot personal projects in Unison with collaborators, for example I am in talks with a magazine that works with the homeless to raise awareness to the issues of living on the streets within the UK, this will gain backers that in turn can fund the project and/or supply the likes of a studio or styling, free of charge.
What advice would you give to developing photographers?
Persevere, nobody shoots for vogue overnight, I’m still hustling, milestone after milestone and fault after fault, persevere.

I am a 23 year old photographer based in Bucharest, Romania.I love to play with black and white shots, I use BW to bring out the main ideas of the concepts I put in practice. For me it better defines the subject from the background, creating deeper emotions from the muse.I focus on conceptual and editorial work, I also combine photography with design and illustrations in some of my projects.

My style is usually black and white, however, for the River project, I wanted to combine the cold tones of the river with the warm expressions and emotions of people. Water symbolizes purity and cleansing, and the paint in some shots symbolizes how we can find strength in ourselves to overcome our worst fears and let go of what keeps us from evolving emotionally.

My artistic style varies from rich colors and whimsical pastels, to
deep contrasts that work with my dark art. I am drawn to unique look-ing people and I love catching their
candid moments, as well. My style of photography is very broad. I utilize wide angles, tight close portraits,
and the Brenizer Method.
This series is meant to convey those “way back when” days in the 60’s, when school was out, friends were cruising around in their cars, and
there was that one boy in school who was always the coolest and hung out with a bevy of girls. The drive in was
always the spot to be, for socializ-ing, burgers, and sneaking a smoke. Girlfriends would gather and laugh,
telling stories, looking fabulous at the same time. This series brings a
memory to mind of a simpler time that is otherwise gone now.

This series is meant to depict two best friends going on a summer “adventure”. Their car breaks down during a road trip, they have to walk with their suitcases, but they are still having the best time because they’re together. The weather is beautiful, the sun is setting, and it’s a great time to be young and free.
