Tip 1 – Don’t compromise on your template / theme design.

If short on time or experience pay for help.

You can spend hours using Google trying to find the tip to resolve your nightmare CSS issue.

Often just knowing where to begin can eat up time you need to invest elsewhere.

So tip 1 is basically contact Neogain if you require website design help!

Tip 2 – Utilise resources from around the world.

You should try to build your own repository of resources, which will help your website become more unique.

However that being said, time is important and progressing your projects probably should be a priority.

Whether you need a logo designed, a photo of an object, else a theme tweaking, you can either find free resources for personal and / or business use online, else hire someone to create the desired item.

For logos check out fiverr.

For photos sxc and for your web design needs?

Neogain of course!

Tip 3 – You probably don’t need PhotoShop.

You hear so much talk about Adobe PhotoShop, but in reality many just don’t need this great software.

Converting an image? Microsoft’s own Paint application can handle simple file format conversions, as can the amazing Gimp.

Need to resize, sharpen or crop an image?

Again there is the Gimp that can handle most novice graphical requirements, and for those requiring some more features perhaps a cheap old version of PaintShop Pro, such as version 9.

Tip 4 – Backup your revisions.

A tweak here, an update there and the look of a design can seriously change.

Whether updating banners, logos, CSS code or other graphical elements, it is wise to make a backup of the original before you proceed.

You never know when you might need the original and often recreating an image is impossible, else time consuming.

Tip 5 – Test your web design.

There are different scenarios where testing your design can make a tremendous difference.

An arrow, bold text or change of colours in an advert or banner can sometimes increase conversions.

A simple piece of code to accommodate a popular web browser could make your website accessible to a wider audience.

A web design is never complete, but should be viewed as a work in progress, as markets change, browsers adapt, new technologies emerge, as well as content possible evolving.

For browser screenshots, please check out Browsershots. For testing different elements of a web page, please look at Google’s Website Optimiser.
