direction on how we will meet for class, whether in

person or online. Please make sure to provide an email

so that we may contact you with further information

about meeting for classes.

Santa Maria de la Paz Year 1 Confirmation Registration form

Complete and bring it and the $35 registration with you to

registration/orientation on Sunday, August 23, 1:00PM, at the Social

Center. This will be a very short meeting.

Letter to Fr. Daniel M. Balizan

If you are not registered at Santa Maria de la Paz, then take this letter to

your parish of registration for the pastor or parish representative to sign. If

you are registered at Santa Maria de la Paz, disregard this letter.

Letter to Parents regarding Circle of Grace session

If you do NOT want your child to attend the Circle of Grace session required

by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe for the protection of children, sign this form

and return it to the Youth Office BEFORE September 20, 2020, otherwise

your child will be considered absent and not allowed to participate in our

program. If it’s OK for your child to attend the session, disregard this form

but make sure your child attends the session on September 20, 3:00PM, at

the Social Center.

This is to inform you about a special class we will teach as part of your child’s Youth program. This class aims to teach youth how to be safe, protect themselves, and communicate any potential danger.

In the Catholic Church’s desire to help you keep your children safe, the Archdiocese of Santa Fe requires that all children and young people participating in religious education in any parish or Catholic school in the Archdiocese receive instruction in protecting themselves and communicating potential danger to a parent or other responsible adult.

The document titled Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal, Charter for the Protection of Children and

Young People written by the American Catholic Bishops, contains the flowing instruction: Dioceses

will establish safe environments and programs that will “provide education and training for

children, youth, parents, ministers, educators and others about ways to make and maintain a safe

environment for children.” The Archdiocese, in order to comply with this instruction, has

mandated that programs to educate children on how to be safe, protect themselves, and

communicate any potential danger, be offered annually to children of all grades in Catholic schools

and parish religious education and youth programs.

This instruction, Circle of Grace, will take place Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 3:00PM at the

Social Hall. The materials that will be used for this instruction will be available for you to review in

the office of the Director of Religious Education.

If for any reason, you do NOT want your child to participate in this class, YOU MUST SIGN THE

FORM BELOW AND RETURN IT TO BEFORE SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2020. Not returning

this letter indicates permission for your child to participate in this class.

religiosa regular de su hijo/a. Esta clase pretende enseñar a los niños y jóvenes a estar seguros, a

En el deseo de la Iglesia de mantener a sus hijos a salvo, la Arquidiócesis requiere que todos los niños y

jóvenes que participen en la educación religiosa en cualquier parroquia o escuela Católica en la

Arquidiócesis, reciban instrucción sobre cómo protegerse a sí mismos y comunicar cualquier peligro

La Arquidiócesis de Santa Fe, para poder cumplir con el documento, Promesa de Proteger, Garantía de

Confirmation 1 Requirements

Age Requirement

Must be baptized in the Roman Catholic Church or baptized in

a church whose Rite is approved by the Roman Catholic

Attendance Requirements

Yep, these are mandatory

Attend all scheduled Sunday class sessions (and attend make-up sessions for missed

sessions). You will be promptly dismissed after the 5:00PM Life Teen Mass. If you arrive

after 3:15 PM, you will not be admitted to class and you will be marked absent.

You are allowed TWO absences; any more will result in

disenrollment from the Confirmation Program.

Attend all 5:00PM Sunday Life Teen Masses and all holydays of obligation (Dec. 25, Jan. 1).

If you attend Mass at a different time or at a different Catholic Church, you must bring a

bulletin signed by the presider or deacon from that Mass.

Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community Confirmation Program – Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

1. All candidates, teachers, and anyone involved in the program, must respect everyone. Disrespect will not

be tolerated.

2. Cell phones or any other communication device are not allowed in the classes and will be confiscated. If a

phone is needed for emergencies, candidates can go to the office.

3. No weapons (knives, pocket knives, guns, etc.) may be brought on to church property.

4. Profanity, vulgar and racist language or behavior is not acceptable.

5. Candidates must be on time for class beginning at 3:00 PM. They will be promptly dismissed after the

5:00PM Life Teen Mass. If a candidate arrives after 3:15 PM, he/she will not be admitted to class and will be

marked absent.

6. For safety reasons, parents needing their son or daughter to leave early must send a note with a phone

number for verification. This will be verified the same evening.

7. Substance Abuse: Any candidate using, being under the influence of, or possessing illegal drugs or alcohol

will be dismissed from the program. No exceptions (zero tolerance).

Disciplinary Procedure

The procedure for disciplinary action is as follows. Four strikes and you’re out!

1st disciplinary instance: Candidate will be taken out of class and sent home. Parents will be called the day of the

incident.

2nd disciplinary instance: Candidate will be taken out of class and sent home. Parents and candidate will be asked

to meet with the Director of Youth Ministry.

3rd disciplinary instance: Candidate will be taken out of class and sent home. Parent will need to attend class with

student for a specified amount of time, after meeting with the Pastor.

4th disciplinary instance: Candidate will be dismissed from the program and invited to return the following year.
