Facebook note from Stephen I don’t look at Facebook very often, but re-
cently I noticed that I had a couple of friend
requests from people in the congregation. It may
seem odd, but I hope people understand that I limit
my Facebook activity to family & friends outside of
church (mostly people I went to school with).

We welcome Nancy Shepherd to
First Christian!
We are very happy to “officially” welcome Nancy
Shepherd to our congregation. Nancy came
forward on Sunday, May 19 to transfer her
membership from Broadway Baptist Church in
Kansas City, MO. Nancy came to us via a friendship
with Bekki Galloway. In Nancy’s words, “Bekki was
able to secure FCC for the very first “Love is in the
Air” concert and Benefit for PAWS in 2016. I am
Co-Chair of PAWS along with Kim Thompson and
Bekki was on the Board. The “feel” of being in
First Christian, with so many community members
contributing to the action and so many volunteering
to sing in the concert, was captivating. I wanted to
be a part of it. Bekki and I have become such
wonderful friends. She is a true role model of
kindness and love. Her spirit is catching! Just what
I needed.”
Nancy is married to husband, Brian McInerney and
together they farm in Rocheport, MO. If you have
not already met Nancy over the past few years,
please go up and introduce yourself to her.
We are happy you are with us and also thank Bekki
for her testament of Christian love and friendship.

Dear First Christian friends and family,
Thank you for your AWESOME support of the youth group
Potato Bar, prior to the Maundy Thursday service. This was a
fun and meaningful service opportunity for the middle school
youth group, and we were humbled by the generosity and
support of the 50+ individuals we served that evening. Over
$350.00 was received for our youth group programs—what an
amazing response and gift! Thank you!
Sincerely,
Aimee Sage and Emily Bange (Leaders)
Dear First Christian Friends,
I want to thank you so much for my 90th birthday card I received. It
meant so much to know that you were thinking of me on my special
day. I have read the card many times with all the names and had fond
memories of each and every one of you. I miss Fayette, but am very
comfortable in my apartment in New Franklin.
Thank you again!

Dear Friends,
Thank you for your donation to Mobility Worldwide, Columbia
(PET). Rest assured it was well-spent. Contributions like yours

IN THE MAIL
Our choir is taking a break for the summer, but that doesn’t
mean that the music has to stop. If you would like to offer a
worshipful music piece on a Sunday morning, let me know
what you have in mind and we will find a good day to
incorporate that into worship. Instrumental pieces, vocal
solos, small groups, contemporary, traditional,
serious or light hearted… Be creative and
share .

How Is the Pentecost
Offering Used? To help
our new church move-
ment continue to take
root! Each year, half of
this offering stays in the
local Region or Area
where it’s collected to
start and uphold new churches. The other half is used across the
United States and Canada by New Church Ministry to support the
recruiting, assessing, training and coaching of new church leaders
at events like Leadership Academy. Our church planters remain
committed to answering God’s call . . . to serve their neighbors,
spread the gospel, and make more Disciples. But they need the
nurturing and generous support of people like you through the
2019 Pentecost Offering, June 2 and 9. Please help our new
church movement continue to take root, bear fruit . . . and grow
more Disciples every day!
Yellow Poplar or Tulip Poplar Tree
Silly, but I have never noticed this beautiful tree that is in front
of our church. Stephen asked me about it & in all these years I
never realized what a beauty it was. Bonnie Agnew did a quick
search and informed us of it’s name. Take a moment next time
you are at church to look at the spectacular flowers that
completely cover it. Thanks! Lori
