The June Meeting of our General Board will be held on

JEFF'S BIBLE STUDY BEGINS
Centering discussion on participant questions, those "I Wonder" kinds of things in
faith, Jeff will offer Bible study beginning this Sunday evening at 7:00pm
and Tuesday morning at 9:30am, with both sessions each week centering on the
same question. This week's discussion will focus on, I wonder: "What does once
saved always saved mean and is it true?"
ATTENTION: EVERYONE WHO CAN DRIVE!
Please note we will be adding additional handicapped parking spaces on both sides of
the church. There is also a need for some of them to be van accessible. If your
vehicle does not have a handicap sticker or handicapped plates, then please do
not park in any of these spaces. There are numerous people in our congregation
who need to park in them, but can’t if they are full of vehicles parking in them
illegally. Please be considerate and remember no one chooses to be disabled!
Thanks, The Property Committee

HERE - NOW - IN LOVE!
I felt it a long time ago, perhaps as early as 5th or 6th grade, and I've never
forgotten it. The "it" I felt was the true sense that there really IS a God of love. I was
in the back yard of our home, I'd been talking to Mom about stuff, and went out back
on a rock patio to sit and think. As I sat in the shade of the trees there I felt a chill
run down my spine: There really IS a God out there!
At the age of 16 I'd heard enough about that God that I invited Jesus to be my
personal Lord and Savior. By the power of the Holy Spirit that entered my life at that
moment, I remembered the chill of the patio, and recognized that God had always
been there for me, but I had not until that moment been there for God.
I'm convinced now that in moments like that, when I was deeply connected to
that single moment, right there, with God and God's love, I am enabled to spot
wildflowers from horseback and recognize that if I had not seen them, they may have
been seen by nobody else but God.
I know there were other people at mine and Linda's wedding, but the only things I
remember with clarity are those moments, those unique moments when vows were
offered, rings exchanged, and a kiss shared. Those were moments fully lived and
experienced in the here - now - in love!
As we come to our celebration of Pentecost, I can't imagine how Jesus' disciples
must have felt in that here - now - in love moment as the Spirit filled them from the
inside out! But what was it that filled them? What changed their lives forever? What
changes OUR lives forever when we invite the Holy Spirit to take up residence within
us?
In his devotions MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST, Pastor Oswald Chambers
says it clearly, and right here - now - in love, I'm claiming this Truth again for myself,
and invite you to claim it for yourself: "It is not the baptism of the Holy Ghost which
changes us, but the power of the ascended Christ coming into our lives by the Holy
Ghost that changes us!"
Claim the power of the ascended Christ in your life, delivered by the Holy Spirit,
for the first time or the first time today, here - now - in love, and you will know the
sensitivity of Christ, the Love of Christ, the open eyes of Christ, the power of Christ's
compassion, and the divine peace which comes when we live each moment here - now
- in love with Christ and one another! Pentecost, my friends, transforms us moment
by moment, both now and forevermore. THAT'S what I call living out of the boat!
May you know God's own peace here - now - in love! JEFF

CAMP VAN DRIVERS NEEDED!
With camps and a mission trip underway, we need van drivers, please
sign-up with Karakay to provide this much needed ministry to get our kids to and from the events that get them connected with other Christian
kids and plays a major role in their development of their spiritual journey.
Thanks so much for all the cards, prayers, & gifts sent to Cody after his injuries.
We also appreciate the kindness shown thru Robin’s recent surgery. We are so lucky
to have all of our church family!
Jr. & Robin Whinery and Cody & Kaycee Brown
I want to thank everyone that made my Senior Sunday so special. Thank you for
my bible and the money. I will use both. P.S. I will try not to tempt the bull.
God Bless, Montana Richey
First Christian Church, thank you so much for the service and meal honoring the
Seniors. The “God’s Promises” book is going to get me through the stressful
moments of growing up, and the scrapbook was beautiful!
Thanks Again! Kaitlyn Grant
GAREE GEIST SPECIAL GUEST – JUNE 11th
& 12th
!
What a privilege it will be for us to host Garee Geist in our
community of faith on Saturday and Sunday, June 11-12. Garee and her
husband Don are making their way south for vacation and have agreed to
stop and share with us in these Renewal Worship services.
Garee is the gifted and accomplished Minister of Music from Scott
City, Kansas, and will be leading us in Renewal Worship services
Saturday evening at 7 o'clock, and Sunday morning in our Worship hour.
The focus of such renewal is in Pentecost, and the gift of God's grace
through the Holy Spirit. We will also share in a Donation Luncheon for
our Walk to Emmaus community following Sunday's worship.
Garee has led such special worship services for many years, and has
also done so for churches in Kansas, and for the Kansas Regional
Assembly as well. Her ministry has included that offered to and with
youth, and the Praise Team at First Christian Church in Scott City. She
has composed music, and taken familiar hymn tunes and "Garee-ized"
them with her own special touches of grace!
Jeff and Linda have been privileged to serve with Garee, and to be
blessed by her ministry in nine of their 25 years in ministry, having
served FCC in Scott City in 1988-93 and 2005-10. Jeff and Linda agree
that "You will be truly and deeply blessed as you share in the ministry of
Garee's heart and soul, as well as her wonderful music."
Please make plans to share with us in these incredible settings for
Renewal Worship and divine fellowship!

To members of FCC Pampa,
As I watch the news, with all the floods and tornado’s causing death, destruction and
devastation across our country, my heart is broken. I pray that God’s presence is felt
in all those situations, but I want so much to get in my car and go give them all a hug
and a helping hand. If your heart is broken and you feel the need to help, I have some
suggestions on something tangible to do that will help those who are hurting.
Week of Compassion, the relief, refugee and development mission fund of the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada, seek to equip
and empower disciples to alleviate the suffering of others through disaster response,
humanitarian aid, sustainable development and the promotion of mission
opportunities. According to Week of Compassion the best way that you can respond
is to “Pray, Pay, and Stay”: pray for all of those affected, that they might find
healing, hope, and support. Pay, by providing a donation to Week of Compassion
disaster relief fund at www.weekofcompassion.org, which will go to meet immediate
needs and long-term recovery initiatives. Finally, wait. There will be opportunities to
lend a hand, now is not the time for unskilled volunteers. Contributions will enable
WOC to continue to reach out to “each as any had need” (Acts 4:35).
Another thought I had was to send a card of encouragement, with a little cash if you can, to South
Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). They had damage done to their church building during
the Joplin tornado, and many of their members have had loss of home and family. A note to let them
know we are praying for them will be like sending a hug in the mail. You can address a card to either:
1901 South Pearl Ave, Joplin, MO 64804, or to the other Disciples of Christ in Joplin, First Christian
Church, 409 W 4th
St, Joplin, MO 64801. If you have the ability and want to write a check make it out
to First Christian Church and note for tornado relief on it. I have spoken with a member of this
congregation and they would be very appreciative of any help, be it prayer or financial donation.
Another idea is to gather items for the Hygiene Kits used by Church World Service, a partner of WOC.
These kits include:
One hand towel measuring approximately 16" x 28" (no fingertip or bath towels)
One washcloth
One wide-tooth comb
One nail clipper
(Continued)
Week of Compassion – Pg. 2
One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper)
One toothbrush (in original packaging)
Six standard size Band-Aids®
You may have other ideas for helping, other organizations you support that are out there providing
relief. Wherever you help I know the people affected by these disasters feel the love and hugs we send
their way and I know God is in control and present in all these situations. Blessings to you all. And
remember we are called to spread the gospel and Love of Christ to all. I pray we as a community of
faith will be the hands and feet of Jesus in our own small but powerful way.
Blessings and God’s Love
Janet Bilyeu

A Big thank you is in order for Julie Morgan who made the beautiful stain glass for my
door to keep the safety of all those who come for pastoral counseling a priority . We also
owe a big thank you to John Pontious for cutting the door and installing the stained
glass. It is small things like this that may go unnoticed at times, but we want to make
sure to give gratitude for your ministry. Thank you so much~Karakay
