You’ve heard the saying, “All good things must come to an end.” Well, this Sunday we will reach the end of our current sermon series. I have really enjoyed the “iBelieveseries and have received lots of positive comments throughout the past couple of months. We began this series with a question. “What are the key beliefs of Christianity that, when we embrace them in our hearts, create true transformation in our lives, in the church, and in the world?” Let me remind you, it’s not enough to believe something as the right answer; you must believe it as a way of life. What you believe in your heart defines who you become. So what are those essential beliefs of the Christian faith? The God of the Bible is the One True God Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He is God incarnate; born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. He was crucified on a cross, resurrected from the dead, and is coming again to judge all people, living and dead. We are each created by God, but we are all corrupted by sin. Jesus alone is able to remove our sin and reconcile us to God. We are reconciled to God only by grace through faith in Jesus. Our eternal destiny is dependent on our response to Jesus. The Bible is the inspired Word of God that guides my beliefs and actions. The first six beliefs are the essentials of the Gospel. Any presentation of the Gospel that is true to Scripture should include a discussion of the character of God, the sinfulness of man, the sufficiency of Christ, the necessity of faith, and the urgency of eternity. Of course, the only way we know these beliefs to be true is because God chose to reveal them to us in his inspired, authoritative, and infallible Word. This Sunday we add one final belief which forms our understanding of the church. This Sunday we also have a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT which you will not want to miss. Our Personnel Team, Youth Ministry Team, and Pastoral Staff believe that God has led us to the individual who will be our next Pastor of Students. We will share this information with the church this Sunday at the conclusion of our worship and know that you will be as excited as we are! Also, don’t forget that our annual Operation Christmas Child Packing Party takes places this Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm in the Activity Center. We still have several unclaimed empty shoeboxes that are waiting for you to fill. The boxes are located on the organ side of the Worship Center, in the front foyer, and in display cases in the hallways. Remember, one shoebox equals one blessed child in Mexico!
