One of the most common fire risksin the BIOMASS industry is friction asit can generate overheated materialthat ignites in the conveyor or cooler.
The design, supply and installationof a Hydramist® fire suppression &detection system are in place toprotect the conveyors and any firesthat do occur can be suppressed.

Hydramists fine water droplets absorblarge amounts of energy from thefire resulting in an immediate dropin temperature from surroundingair/gases. It reduces the oxygen atthe source of the fire and greatlyreduces the smoke damage. It issafe for people enabling controlledevacuation from the protected areas.
Safe and Efficient
Environmentally friendly Hydramist®
uses less water than other systemsto protect the surface area. Due tothe unique way the Hydramist®
systems are employed, a larger areacan be protected. Pipes are usedover conventional sprinkler systems,it allows easier installation, typically42-12mm OD pipes are used.
Nozzles and System Zones
Nozzles are generally installed every2 metres above and below theconveyor belts over a number ofzones, depending on the lengthof the conveyor.
Each zone will be activated by flamedetectors. The detection system willalso send a signal to stop theconveyors upon activation.
Our systems are designed so that ifa section of conveyor has detecteda fire and Hydramist® is dischargedinto that section, the next sectionof the conveyor is also activatedto prevent the spread of the fire.
We can also design a remote controlpanel for the conveyor control roomto allow manual activation ofextra/alternative zones if required.
When flammable material is crushed, milled, conveyed andstored, the risk of fire increases especially when carried on aconveyor belt system. The use of renewable sources of energy,such as biomass pellets, increases this risk as this material isusually dry and needs only low ignition energy to ignite.
