My name is Alice. I’m 16 years old.

I live in Houston, near NASA. My Dad’s applied for a job there.

If I get in, I’m going to buy a more updated player.

However, what with Dad’s possible new job, Westwood or even just a new player are simply distant dreams on the horizon.

And I’ve received my first pay in advance, so I can buy you your textbooks, and maybe that new player, too.

What! That’s fantastic, Dad!

Isn’t it just wonderful! Everything is finally working out for us!

And I’ve received my first pay in advance, so I can buy you your textbooks, and maybe that new player, too.

And it seemed like it was. I got school things, my player, went on two induction days and bought some amazing new clothes for all the parties!!! After the summer, I was off to Westwood, and it was AMAZING!!!! Everyone was super-friendly, and my room-mate, an energetic brunette called Ray, was great, too! I worked on Brad, and he was better than ever! At the weekend, I came home to see Dad off for his first day of work. I took loads of photos and videos with my player, and messaged them to all my new friends, who loved them! But nothing can ever last forever, and it wasn’t until I was halfway back to Westwood on Sunday night that I realised what had happened…….

I went to text Ray, who was practically my best friend now, but I couldn’t find my player. However, I was tired, and I thought it must just be in my suitcase, instead of my rucksack, where I had looked. But when I went to class on Monday morning, I still didn’t have it with me. Instead of working on Brad some more, I just sat and watched everybody else playing around with their animations. At lunch time I ran back to my dorm and cried. My player had all my photos on it! All my most important contacts, my animation projects, homework projects! And those photos of Dad at NASA, beaming, ever so proud and happy. Ray came and found me and helped me look, but to no avail. Dejected, we trailed back to class. Mrs Jones, our teacher, had a boy with her. I did a double take. He looked exactly like Brad! Mrs Jones asked him to tell us a bit about himself, and he said he liked skateboarding! No way! Me and Ray exchanged ‘looks’. He was like Brad come to life! He sat behind mine and Ray’s seats, and at the end of class he came up to me.

“Hey, Alice.” He called, though I can’t remember telling him my name. Maybe he saw it on my folder or something. “I think this belongs to you.” He said, tossing me something before turning and walking away. It wasn’t until I went to bed that I remembered to look at it. When I did, I did another double take. Lying there on my bed, with all my files, contacts and animations, Brad smiling on the screen, was my player…..
