TOur intent for the annual color project at Centerra was to create cohesive designs that linked all of the annual planting beds together to give viewers a positive aesthetic experience. By creating a strong design for the two larger beds at the main entrance we were able to create an eye-catching entrance to the shopping complex. Aspects of this design were also intentionally mimicked throughout the rest of the beds around the shopping center. Color juxtaposition, plant texture, and varying height levels were considered for each separate bed to insure a strong, yet effective design concept. Throughout the design process we intentionally incorporated subtle elements to give each viewer some sense of agriculture, which Centerra’s landscape designs were based around. By using a radial, sun-like design for the front beds, by incorporating field-like stripes in the smaller beds, and by specifying plants such as cabbage and kale we hope to give some sense of agriculture to our designs.

We believe that our design concepts will appeal to not only Centerra, McWhinney, and Valleycrest, but also to the visitors of the Centerra shopping complex.
