Objective of the study

Broad objectives The main objective of the study is to evaluate the Corporate Social Responsibility of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd.

Specific objectives Under a broad objective the study focused on some several

activities for comprehending an overall review.

To identify CSR initiative of IBBL.

To identify impact of CSR initiative on the relevant party.

To create a critical evaluation of CSR initiative of IBBL

towards its relevancy with its objectives.

Methodology of the study Study Design The study was fully a descriptive in nature. The study was conducted

using the participatory method. To know the in-depth information, the topic was discussed with the expert professionals related to IBBL for several times and review of record of IBBL and other related secondary information. Statistical data and other relevant information were gathered from secondary sources including several journals and booklets.

Data Collection method– Data have been collected from two sources. These are as under:– Primary source– Secondary source

Methodology of the study The primary sources of data include the followings:

– Face to face conversation with the respective officers and staffs of the branch.

– Informal conversation with the clients.– Relevant file study as provide by the officers

concerned.

The secondary sources of data include as under:– Annual reports of IBBL 2009-2013– Different publications of Islami Bank Bangladesh

Evaluation of CSR

The CSR Expenditure graph basically shows that from 1983 to 2013 total CSR Expenditure of IBBL has increased. Both current year figure sometimes fluctuated but cumulative figure in chart shows an upward trend. This basically proves that Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) maintain its CSR activities in a proper way. Though in 2012-2013 growth has slowed down.

From this graph we come to know that with the increasing CSR expenditure no. of Beneficiaries also increasing before 2013. In 2013 this growth has downward trend.

Findings Sector wise CSR initiative cannot work properly. IBBL has got the second position in Total CSR expenditure

position reported by Bangladesh Bank. Human Rights are not included in the CSR activity Of IBBL. Public awareness programs are insufficient than burning

needs. Performance in Education sector is moderate because,

expenditure has increased over the years but no. of beneficiaries has decreased.

Expenditure in Health increased but no. of beneficiaries has decreased.

Recommendations

• Need to develop a better strategy to increase sector wise development.

• IBBL should take initiatives to serve more people.• Human Rights need to include in CSR activities.• Awareness programs for Environmental Disaster should

increase. • IBBL should increase their CSR investment in rural area.• IBBL should take a public awareness programs for the issues

of Eve- Teasing, Extra-marital relationship, sending parents to old home etc.
