About 1200 farmers, scientists and development officers of the state participated.

The Seminar was inaugurated by Dr. R.S. Paroda, Chairman, Haryana Kisan Ayog and was chaired by Dr. K. M. L. Pathak, Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences), ICAR. The other key persons present in the inaugural seminar were, Mr Roshan Lal, IAS Principal Secretary Agriculture, Govt of Haryana, Mr. A. K. Singh, IAS Director General (Agriculture), Govt. of Haryana, Dr. K.D. Kokate, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension),

While reiterating the issues of water, labour and energy shortages as well emerging challenges of climate change, he outlined the possible technological options and necessary policy support for scaling-up and scaling-out of those technologies. Real time access to information at farmers' door-step as well as linking farmers to market is the key for success, he further added. In his final remark, Dr Paroda mentioned that Haryana has developed its “Agricultural Policy” for convergence &

Kisan Diwas Celebrated achievements of Haryana for its ever highest wheat On 23 December, 2012, the birth anniversary of productivity in the country. Former Prime Minister of India, Ch. Charan Singh, the Haryana Kisan Ayog organized Kisan Diwas in collaboration with ICAR, NDRI, departments of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Fisheries, Govt of Haryana, CIMMYT, PPV & FRA and LLRUVAS at NDRI, Karnal. Over 5000 farmers, scientists, development officers and other stakeholders participated. Dr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Hon'ble CM of Haryana graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Dr. S. Ayyappan, DG, ICAR as Guest of Honour. Dr. R. S. Paroda presided over the function. Dr Hooda and other dignitaries visited the Conservation Agriculture Field trials of NDRI and CIMMYT. Farmers’ Hand Book Released

The Haryana Kisan Ayog constituted a Working Group consisting of Dr. I.P. Abrol, Chairman, Dr. S.R. Singh, Er. H.S. Lohan, as members and Dr. D. P. Singh, Consultant Haryana Kisan Ayog as Nodal Officer on Natural Resource Management in Haryana. This publication was released on December 23, 2012 by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda. This document contains comprehensive analysis of the complex and immediate problems of natural resources (land, soil, water, climate, vegetative cover, biodiversity), identifies the sustainable ways and means and suggests appropriate policy, research and development related interventions for improving resource base and quality to sustain higher agriculture growth in the State. The Working Group strongly recommends the adoption of bottom up approach in farmer participatory mode to guide and implement research and development agenda at all levels - local, regional and State. This publication will be of immense use to the planners, administrators, scientists, students and farmers.

The Haryana Kisan Ayog, Government of Haryana under the Chairmanship of Dr. R.S. Paroda assigned the responsibility of preparing a Roadmap for the Development of Horticulture in Haryana State to the Empowered committee comprised of eminent scientists namely Padam Shri Dr. K.L. Chadha, as Chairman, Dr. O. P. Pareek, Dr. P. C. Gupta members, and Dr. M. L. Chadha, Consultant, HKA as Nodal Officer. A number of useful inputs emerged from the visits and the interactions the committee had with various stakeholders. This report was released by Hon'ble Chief Minister Haryana, Dr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda on December 23, 2012. The report is divided into four Sections each devoted to i) Horticulture Research & Development, ii) Strategy for Horticulture Development, iii) Strategy for Post-Harvest

Management and iv) Summary & Recommendations. The issues identified have been addressed in 14 chapters.

The Haryana Kisan Ayog (HKA) constituted a Working Group (WG) on Development of Fisheries Sector in Haryana, comprising of Dr. W.S. Lakra, as chairman, along with Dr. Vishnu Bhat, Dr. K.K. Vass, Dr. M.P. Yadav, Consultant HKA for fisheries as Nodal officer. The WG has made far reaching recommendations in its report prepared after extensive deliberations with fish farmers and other stake holders representing public and private sectors. The WG has taken into consideration the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges being faced by Fisheries sector in the State. The report provides technological, developmental and policy options for the next two plan periods (2012-22) to achieve the targeted fish production of 1,45,250 tons by 2017 and 3,50,730 tons by 2022. The report would facilitate the process of fisheries development in Haryana with improved productivity, sustainability and profitability. The Report was released on 22-9-2012 by Dr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Haryana.

Third edition of the hand book having detailed information on different schemes related to the uplifting of farmers and farming in the State was released by the Hon'ble Chief Minister Dr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda on the eve of Kisan Diwas celebration on 23rd December, 2012 at Karnal. Production of this booklet by Ayog was complemented by the dignitaries present on the Dias. While giving his remarks, Director General, ICAR, Dr.S. Ayyappan flagged this booklet many times to the audience highlighting its importance. The first edition of this booklet was also released by Hon'ble Chief Minister Dr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda on 23 December, 2011 at Hisar on the occasion of Kisan Diwas. He was very much impressed with the content of this publication and immediately gave an order for printing of one lakh copies of this compilation by the State Press for its distribution among farmers.
