P.S. I Love you is a romantic comedy drama. Through some screen

grabs from the trailer, I’m going to show you some typical

conventions of this genre.

“P.S. I Love you” was an occurring sentence in all of Gerry’s letters

which was romantic and what you would expect of a rom com.

An idyllic setting is regularly used in romantic comedies as

well as iconic settings which people can recognise. This film starts

off with being in New York City and finishes in the rural part of

Ireland.

A prominent love scene in the trailer, which shows the

relationship between the protagonists. There are a lot of

close up shots of them which reflects the intensity and

closeness of their relationship.

Inter titles tend to be seen in a romantic comedy

trailer, because they help to tell the story through

short, snappy statements.

Romantic gestures are necessary for a

romantic comedy to show which portrays

love. In this films case it is for remembrance

and for the ability to move on. Also gives an

inkling of what the film is about.
