The Hunger Games
• Logo:• Title: Bold title, at the bottom of the
poster, in a similar colour to the centre logo. It also uses the gold colour throughout to match the logo.
• Tag Line: May the odds be ever in your favour. It stands out and is a main quote in the movie towards the start.
• The main logo in the centre draws people in, as it stands out, and most people recognise it from the trailers/ads.
• Date: 2012Billing: The poster has a small Lionsgate logo at the bottom right, with the Hunger Games website link on the bottom left.
The Hunger Games keeps the theme of fire and gold throughout, due to Katniss later in the movie being named ‘The Girl On Fire’. It also reminds people of theme of the movie for the future.
• The main features of all of the posters that it includes Katniss, look directly at the shot with a bow, or a close up image of one of the characters.
• Target Audience: 12-18, I think that the movie is aimed at teenagers, but young adults too which are predominantly girls. I also think most of the audience will be in full time education, but some in part-time/full-time work too. These would be people who are either given money (disposable money), or earn money to treat themselves.
• Main Character: Katniss Everdeen• I think that this main character appeals more to
women, as throughout the movie, there are hints at love storylines. But, there is also an action storyline throughout, which is why I also think it would appeal to men in some cases too. I think it is stronger towards girls, as Katniss is in their age range too. Although it would appeal to men to, it would mostly be teenage/young adult women. Another thing, Is that she dresses like a woman, and has her hair in a feminine way, so that is a possibility as to why it is a predominantly female audience. Yet, she still comes across as a protagonist that everybody can like, as she seems to be strong in herself, and in the storyline.
The Amazing Spiderman(Comparison)
• Title: Bold title, with the familiar ‘Spiderman’ font. It is filled white with a red outline.
• Tagline: there is no tagline in this poster, as particularly, there is no main quote in the movie. But it shows what it is.
• The image of Spiderman in the foreground helps to draw people in, as it is a realistic version of something that many people recognise from their childhood.
• Date: 2012Billing: Underneath the coming soon line, there is a website link and also the developers logos.
The Amazing Spiderman posters keep the same colour throughout, with main black and blues, along with Spiderman in the forefront doing a pose. Also, it shows the logo a lot so people remember the movie & poster.
• The main features of all of the posters is that Peter Parker is placed looking over the town, as he is the protector of the city.
• Target Audience: 12-18, I think that the movie is aimed at teenagers, and predominantly boys. This movie could also appeal to young adults, as they may also be in full-time/part-time education too, which they are give money or earn money that can be spent towards a treat, such as a trip to the cinema.
• Main Character: Peter Parker• I think that this main character appeals more
to men, but, as the storyline has a fixed action/love story line, both genders are included. Also, I think it helps to appeal to teenagers and young adults because the main character is about the same age as the audience, so in some situations, the audience can relate. But, more or likely, the audience would be mostly men. Another thing is that, when he is not dressed in costume as Spiderman, he dresses as a regular guy or scientist, so that may also be why it is aimed towards men. Yet, when is dressed at Spiderman, he appears to have no glasses and looks more muscular than Peter Parker.
