It’s important for a film to target a specific audience because everyone has different taste in films for example you could like watching romantic or sci-fi films but then when it comes to action films you can utterly dislike it. This connotes that if a film is released and its genre is action the person who distastes the genre will not go and see it, so this is why films target particular audiences to allow them to make the greatest profit.

Age ratings (BBFC)

The BBFC are people that are responsibly for the age classification on DVDS that we usually watch. BBFC stand for British Board OF Films Classification they are in charge of placing age rating on movies and games so they spread to the right target audience.

Age ratings (Uc)

The ‘Uc’ Age rating stands for Universal Children this means that any target audience is allowed to view it.Its usually films like ICE AGE, Happy Feet, and more. This has this age rating because its targeted at ages under 4years old.

The ‘U’ Age rating stands for Universal this is aimed at 4 year olds and over this is because the movies are understood to be more appealing for that age group.

Age Rating (U)

U - UniversalSuitable for AllU films should be appropriate for audiences aged four years and over. If there is any violence, jeopardy or horror in a U film, it must be over fast and the film should tell children that the whole thing will turn out all right.

Age rating (PG)

The ‘PG’ age rating stands for Parental Guidance this means that the film is targeted for overall viewing however some scenes may not be appropriate for children of younger age groups.

‘PG’ also means that any child is allowed to view the film on condition that they are escorted by an adult for instance Shrek 2 has this certificate.

Age rating (12A)

The ’12A’ Age certificate means that the film has been directed at ages 12 and over furthermore anybody under the age of 12 are allowed to see the film on condition that they are supplemented by someone that’s is over the age of 18 which is classed an a adult. The A stands for accompanied and advisory this means that if you under the age of 12 you will have to be managed. Hunger games has this certificate. There are also two dissimilar 12 age certificate the modification between them is ‘12’A’ is for cinema released movies and ‘12’ is for movies that were released on blue rays DVDs.

Age rating (15)

The ‘15’ age rating means that not a single person below the age of 15 is permitted to watch the film in addition they are not allowed to buy a 15 graded film if they are not 15 or over this is because 15 related films involves much more violence, swearwords and impolite exposure then lower related films this is why they are so harsh on the age inside the industry.

Age rating (18)

The ‘18’ age rated films are for 18 year and above, not one person under the age of 18 is allowed to watch the film. Also if your under the age of 18 you are forbidden to buy a 18 rated film this is because films that are rated at 18 involves use of bad language, and violent scenes also drug use and bloodshed and anyone under the age of 18 to vision the film will conceivably have an influence on them. Films like ‘green street’ and ‘saw 3’ have this age certificate.

Age rating (R18)

The ‘R18’ rating means that an audience of 18 and over will only vision any material holding this age certificate harshly no under the age of 18 is permitted to observe this material this is because this category contains explicit work containing sexual roles or strong image material relating adults.

These rated films may only be shown in particularly certified cinemas and may only be delivered to grown-ups in licensed sex shops.

‘R18’ movies will never be provided by mail order.
