FROM THE GOVERNOR
Howdy everybody! Many of you have seen the brand
new fence on the back of the property, but for those of
you who haven’t, it sure looks great. Thanks go to
Kurt for the purchase of the materials, and to the
following persons for their hard work and effort in the
construction: Dave Woods, Jim Cassell, Mac
McClurg, Earl Karr, Jack Bennett, Cary Cosens,
Kenny Haase, Norm Wasikowski, Colton Lewis, John Harroun, and John
Turnipseed. Great job, guys!
There are two very important events happening this month. First, the annual CA/NV
Moose Association Convention will be held at the Atlantis Resort on September 6-8.
A lot of good information will be handed down and we hope to see a good number of
attendees from Fernley. Our new Fellows will be conferred on Saturday the 7th at the
convention and we will post their names in next month’s newsletter. On that night,
the drawing will be held for the $3000 prize. We still have a few tickets available so
get yours while you still can.
The other very important event is in honor of Mac McClurg. Mac was awarded the
Pilgrim Degree of Merit during the International Convention in May and we will be
hosting his Gold Coat Ceremony on Sunday the 8th at 1:00 p.m. This very august
ceremony will be held at the Fernley Senior Center and will be conducted by the
Association Pilgrim ritual team. Food will be provided and a no host bar will be set
up. Mac has been a dedicated and loyal member of our lodge and the Order for years
and we invite you to come down for this very special presentation to congratulate
and support him. On a personal note, I have witnessed first hand how hard he has
worked and I feel the honor is very well deserved. Congratulations, Mac!
The softball sign-up sheet has been posted in the social quarters for a number of
weeks but so far very few have signed up to play. The game is scheduled for October
5th and the cutoff date for sign-ups is September 21st. The cost to play is $5.00 and
will include a barbeque lunch following the game.
We would also like to start bingo and Wii bowling next month. Wii bowling will start
on Sunday, October 6th and will end sometime before Christmas. During this
tournament we will determine a handicap for each player so that everyone will have
a chance to win. We need a minimum of eight players and a sign-up sheet will be
posted all of this month. Bingo will also start on Sunday, October 6th at 12:30 p.m. A
minimum of four players is required to have the games. Please let me know if you are
interested in playing or would like to help.
Coming next month is our birthday party with lots of activities and festivities. Details
will be published in next month’s newsletter.
Many more good things will come, but for now… That’s all, folks!
Woody

August was a busy month. We had the Academy
of Friendship dinner by Bonnie Karr, Kimberly
Diminio and Leanne Doty. It was a great spaghetti dinner with
Kimberly’s homemade old fashion Italian sauce. Great job girls.
The 2HOTT training in Mason Valley was great and Patie and I learned a
lot. We also had the Officers Training class Saturday the 24th which was
taught by Jeanne Fahl.
We want to thank the girls from Mason Valley for attending. Fernley
Chapter was host with a continental breakfast and pizza from Papa Mur-
phy’s for lunch. Thanks guys for coming.
September is also a busy month. September 1st the audit committee will
meet at 4:00 PM. Convention in Reno at the Atlantis the 5th thru the 8th.
There will be a special get together at the Senior Center building for Mac
at 1:00 PM. We would like for all to attend and support Mac in receiving
his gold coat as our new Pilgrim. All officers please attend. A very special
event.
Our Officer/Chapter meeting will be held on September 15th at 12:00
noon and 1:00 PM due to the convention. District meeting is also on
September 15th at South Lake Tahoe. No Sunday breakfasts in Septem-
ber due to the lack of participation.
September 21st is dinner by Lydia Sittman for Star Recorder.
Enchiladas, Jalapeño cornbread. We will also have a 50/50 drawing.
We hope to see each and everyone of you for all the events in September
Be there or be square.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES
To All My Brothers and Sisters,
We still have a great opportunity to save money this year
just by signing up two new members and get your dues
paid for the upcoming year. Moose International has elimi-
nated the enrollment fee on any new application and gives
you a year’s dues for signing up 2 new members.
That is putting money in your wallet for just telling the story of our Lodge and all
the good we do. Getting the story of the Moose, fill out the application, get them
enrolled = $60.00 not bad interest. Try it, I think you will like it.
Let’s get on to some of the things happening this month; One is that’s there no
breakfast on Sundays. The King of Clubs is still every Monday plus we have
Monday night football starting. On the 1st the WOTM will have their audit at
4pm.
The CA/NV Moose Association Convention at the Atlantis in Reno will be starting
Thursday the 5th and finishing up early Sunday the 8th.
Also on the 8th at 1 pm, we all need to be at the Fernley Senior Center for the
Pilgrim Presentation. Please plan to attend this very special Ceremony for one of
OUR VERY OWN.
LOOM Officers meet at 6 PM on the 10th and General Meeting at 6:30 and House
Meeting to follow. The 13th Woody is serving Catfish Po-Boys. Blue & Gold will be
serving Cordon Bleu, Scallop Potatoes w/veggie and a dessert on Sat the 14th
The 17th is the joint Officers meeting at 6pm with LOOM officers at 6:45 with
House to follow. The 20th the Moose Legion will be serving dinner at 5pm.
On the 21rst The WOTM STAR RECORDER dinner will be served up by Patie
& Lydia. Folks this is also the last day to sign up for softball. You can sign up at
the Social Quarters. The 24th, General Meeting at 6:30 with Legion to follow.
The 27th Woody will be making Mushroom Cheese Burgers and Fries.
On the 28th the LOOM will be serving Chicken Fried Steak, with mashed potatoes,
gravy, and a veggie. Don’t forget the 8th at the senior center.
We are a Family lodge and we do strive to maintain our credibility as such, bring
your friends to get them acquainted and get that 2 for 1 value savings that I talked
about at first, remember this strengthens Our Lodge and fattens your wallet.
See You There,
DAVE

Moose Bestows Highest Honor on Local Member
Mac McClurg of Fernley, NV a member of Fernley Lodge No.
2468, Loyal Order of Moose, was summoned to receive the Pilgrim Degree
of Merit, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member of the
Loyal Order of Moose. The conferral was held in the House of God at
Mooseheart, IL on Saturday, May 25, 2013.
The degree, currently held by less than one-half of one percent of
the members of the fraternity throughout the United States, Canada,
Great Britain and Bermuda, is the Order’s ultimate reward for excep-
tional devotion to the principles and ideals of caring for children and sen-
ior members, and is earned only by members who have given years of
‘above-the-call-of-duty’ service to the Loyal Order of Moose and its prin-
ciple philanthropic endeavors of Mooseheart, a city for children in need,
located forty miles west of Chicago, and Moosehaven, a retirement com-
munity for senior members, located on the banks of the St. Johns River in
Orange Park, FL.
The Pilgrim Degree ceremony, traditionally held on the same day
as the Commencement Exercises for Mooseheart High School, is conferred
only inside Mooseheart’s House of God, the magnificent multi-
denominational cathedral built in 1950.
Members receiving this Degree are entitled to wear a much-
coveted gold blazer, which is formally presented to the honoree during a
special ceremony attended by other Pilgrims, members of the higher de-
grees of both the Loyal Order of Moose and Women of the Moose, family,
friends, community leaders, and other members of the Order. Mac will
receive his blazer at the Fernley Senior Center on Sunday September 8 at
1:00 PM. Also present will be leaders of the California - Nevada Associa-
tion to offer their congratulations to Brother McClurg.
The Moose is an international organization of men and women,
dedicated to caring for children and seniors, bringing communities closer
together, and celebrating life. Jointly, these members tirelessly volunteer
their time and talent to assist people in need and make our communities
better places to live and raise our families.

Greetings to all from the Supreme Governor,
Joseph R. Koons, he wishes you all well.
My wife (Bobbi) and I have had a busy 2 months traveling
around California. We have been to many Moose Lodges and have
had a great time visiting the lodges and old friends. We visited
Sunnyvale Moose Lodge, Gridley Moose Lodge, Folsom Moose
Lodge, Mason Valley Lodge and of course our own lodge.
September promises be just as busy. We have our convention at
the Atlantis Casino right after Labor day, then off to Vacaville
Lodge and Folsom Lodge, then comes Grass Valley Lodge and Las
Vegas Lodge and Red Rock Lodge. We are looking forward to all
these places and seeing old friends and meeting new ones. See
you all next month.
Joe Rigazio
Fernley Lodge is fortunate to have a
Deputy Supreme Governor from our lodge for
two straight years and here’s what Joe has been
up to.
<<<<>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<
Well this month we will be bringing back the collection barrels for
food and clothing. Yes it is that time of year and some of the resi-
dents of Fernley have not had an easy time of it.
The food and clothing will be donated at the Fernley food shelter
and it just for Fernley residents. I hope you all have it in your
hearts to help these people in their time of need.
