FROM OUR GOVERNOR

HAPPY NEW YEAR! All the Officers and I hope your

holidays with family and friends were fulfilling and that

you will keep the Lodge in your plans this New Year.

We had a great time at the Lodge Christmas Party on December 9 even

though it was a small gathering. The Blue and Gold Chairman Dave Woods

and his able assistant James “Slim” Haas did a fine job with the Philly

Cheesesteak and French Dip Sandwiches, French Fries and Mac’s special cole-

slaw salad.

At the District Meeting on December 17, there was a good turn out from

Fernley Lodge and the other Lodges in the District. The Lodge provided a

delicious Ham Luncheon with the entire trimming prepared by Norm Wasi-

kowski, Bill Hargis and Tamara Hargis. The White Elephant Gift Exchange

was handled by Mrs. Santa Claus (Doris Berigtold) who made the event fun.

Our 8-week Winter Cribbage Tournament will start on Wednesday January

10. There is a sign-up sheet in the Social quarters.

A few events happening in the coming months;

1) We will have a Super Bowl Party on Sunday, February 4, 2018; you do not

want to miss it.

2) In March, we will be having a Wings Cook-Off on Saturday, March 31,

2018. There will be prize money for first, second and third place and trophies.

You have a couple of months to start working on your award winning favorite

Wing recipe.

3) The District Campout in June will be the responsibility of Fernley Lodge to

find a location, plan events, the Saturday BBQ and other activities for our Dis-

trict members and guest. We will need everyone to step up with ideas and sug-

gestions.

I want to encourage everyone to get involved in some way to help and support

the Lodge. The Lodge belongs to all of us and occasionally we should hop out

and help “pull the wagon”. Everyone has some talents and abilities and with

all of us working together, we can produce something special. “Will you

help”? I look forward to seeing you around the Lodge.

In closing, the time of year is fast approaching for elections, and the process

will begin in February. If you would like to be a member of next year's board

of officers, please let one of us know.

FROM OUR SOCIAL QUARTERS MANAGER

Greetings all. Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a Merry

Christmas with family and friends. Now that the new year is upon

us let’s start it off on a positive note. If you know of a member who

is has not been in for a while let’s find out why? Is there something

we can do to help? We all have our own struggles and maybe just a

kind word or gesture from a member will show we do care and we

miss them and would love to see them.

Last month we had some pretty fun Christmas parties. Thank

you to all that helped with these. We also ended our dart tourna-

ment but as I write this article we have not finished yet so we will

announce the winners next month. We had a lot of fun. Everybody

wants to play again so I see another tournament will be after the

cribbage tournament.

Our next tournament will be CRIBBAGE. It will be every

Wednesday night starting January 10th to February 28nd. So, if you

like cribbage come on down and sign up to play. If you don’t like

cribbage that is ok you can still come down and enjoy a refreshing

beverage of your choice.

We have some wonderful meals planned this month. Every Fri-

day we have a bowl of soup with French bread for only $3.00 and

we also play Ship Captain and Crew that night. This is a lot of fun

some come join us. Every Saturday night we still have homecooked

yummy dinners by our various cooks. Also, every Sunday morning

we have an awesome breakfast cooked by our various cooks. Please

come down and support these wonderful volunteer cooks.

On a final note. We are open to new ideas and activities to do

in the social quarters. If you would like to suggest something you

need to 1st, please write all the details down. , 2ND you need to give

the information to the governor or myself so it can be presented to

the board for approval. I can’t just do things without the board’s
