“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom
shall I send? Who will go for us?’ ‘Here I am,’ I said,
‘send me!’” (Isaiah 6:8)
Every day – in little ways and in big ways – God asks,
“Whom shall I send?” Whether it is someone to take on
a new ministry or just someone to open a door for a
stranger, God constantly provides doors of opportunity.
The next time you hear God calling, have the courage to
walk through the door and say “Here I am, Lord.”
The question maybe should be, "Do I even take the
time to listen and hear when God is calling me? Do I
take the initiative to offer up a prayer daily--asking for
His Presence and Assistance?" Or like most of us, are
we just too concerned and involved in taking care of it
ourselves? It is surprising that when God is consulted
how much better the solutions are to our problems and
concerns with daily living. This is not a fantasy it is a
fact of life for the one who truly seeks God. So begin
today and allow God to be a vital part of your everyday
stresses-and we all have them.

Jubilee Year of Mercy
February 7, 2016
Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
During this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis calls
us to share with everyone the tender compassion of God
that we ourselves have experienced. In today’s Gospel,
Luke uses a special Greek word conveying just such ten-
derness. In the other Gospels, Jesus calls the disciples to
be “fishers,” haleis, the same word that means catching
fish with hooks or nets, to be killed and eaten. But Luke
uses zogron, from zoe or “life,” meaning “catch or gath-
er people alive,” as animal lovers capture without harm-
ing, rescue from “the wild” for a better life, and protect
in aquarium or zoo, tenderly cared for by professionals
committed to the creatures’ well-being. So in Luke’s vi-
sion—and Pope Francis’ as well—we who have been
“caught alive” by God’s mercy ourselves are to become
“missionaries of mercy” during this Jubilee Year of Mer-
cy, rescuing fellow sinners from danger and gathering
them into Jesus’ community to enjoy fullness of life. —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

CATHOLIC FOCUS
As Catholic Christians we are called by our Lord to con-
tinue our understanding and knowledge of our Catholic
faith, the Sacred Scriptures, and our need to share our
faith with others. These areas are covered in our Catholic
Focus class every Sunday morning at 9:45 AM in the
Catholic Focus room in the Faith Formation building.
We receive our lessons for the week (on a monthly basis)
via email--to download and prepare for the lesson on the
following Sunday. The lessons are based on the Mass
Scriptures for that particular week. We have a catechist
that leads the class as we ponder and discuss how the
Scriptures encourage us to actually "LIVE AND APPLY
THEIR UNDERSTANDING TO THE MANNER IN
WHICH WE LIVE OUR LIVES". Adults of all ages are
welcome. We look forward to meeting and greeting you
as we grow in our knowledge of God's Calling in our
lives-to become the Disciples and Stewards we are
"called" to be. Please stop by and see for yourselves.
