ATTN: ALL UA AND FIRST UA AGENTSAs an Agent of UA or First UA it’s important you’re aware of and adhere to federal Do Not Call (DNC) regulations, state Do Not Call regulations, and Company Do Not Call procedures. A memo was recently distributed that spelled out an Agent’s responsibilities as they relate to Do Not Call. The memos are available on the UA and First UA Agent websites under ‘Memos’ and should be reviewed periodically.
UA Agents may access this information via UAOnline and do a ‘Do Not Call Search’ under ‘Leads’ on the UA Agent website.
First UA Agents may do a ‘Do Not Call Search’ by clicking on the left side of the home page. Download First UA Do Not Call Guidelines at the bottom of the page.
SPREADING THE UA MESSSAGE!On Jan. 20, 2015, Donna Ahlbum, Keith Wright, and Lisa Rosati carried on The Ahlbum Group tradition of representing UA at the Annual Boomer Expo at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL.
Boomer Expos are held in cities around the country during the year to offer Seniors access to information related to health, money management, nutrition, etc. Start your own tradition and spread the word about the value of United American Medicare Supplements to Seniors in your area!
OUTSTANDING EFFORT, VINCENT!“Bob (Lochard), my best day this Annual Enrollment Period started out looking like my worst. Three of my five appointments had either canceled or rescheduled the day before. So the only appointments I had left were a policy delivery and a referral appointment.
“I took out some old over-65 lead cards I purchased using the UA lead program. I received them back in July but had not been able to contact by phone or door knocking. I set an appointment with one person, but it was at her place of business. I usually don’t like to meet anywhere other than their home, but I didn’t have anything else for the next day, so I booked it.
“On my delivery appointment, I sold a $20,000 cancer policy. On my referral appointment, I sold an F Plan. And on the appointment I really didn’t want to go to, I sold an F Plan to the original person with whom I set the appointment. Then she had me sit with three other people who worked at that location, and I sold two more F Plans and an HDF Plan. What started out looking like one of my worst field days turned out to be my best day during the AEP with a total of $12,696 in premium.”

You have greater options and opportunity in 2015 than ever
before! Continue to push our New Whole Life Final Expense product. With the Annual Enrollment Period and the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period over, this is a great time to revisit your customer base and cross-sell where appropriate. Plus, there are still approximately 10,000 new prospects turning age 65 every day in this country. Medicare Supplement sales alone can keep you busy every day, all year long!
Stay in touchNever underestimate the value of recontacting prospects who may not have purchased from you the first time around. Circumstances can quickly change in peoples' lives, and what may not have been wanted or needed six months ago, may be exactly what is wanted or needed now. This is especially true for life insurance sales.
Too often it takes losing a loved one or friend to realize the importance of having appropriate life insurance coverage. Unfortunately, we all have heard stories about someone dying without life insurance, whose survivors could not afford to give their loved one a proper burial, let alone cover
outstanding medical bills, debts, and routine monthly expenses.
Having life insurance is important at any age, so make sure you ask all your prospects and existing customers if they have purchased life insurance to protect their families' financial well-being.
Expand your portfolioWith the recent addition of Whole Life for Final Expense and Juvenile Whole Life, your UA product portfolio has expanded dramatically. The fact you can offer a Senior coverage for both his health insurance needs and life insurance needs puts you in a position to be a highly positive influence in that Senior’s financial planning and develop a long-lasting relationship with him.
Medicare Supplement insurance and life insurance are only part of the equation, though. With our cancer and critical illness product, you have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of your under age 65 customers too.
Did you know?According to the American Cancer Society:
More than 45 million Americans still smoke cigarettes
Smokers are about 25 times more likely to develop lung cancer than nonsmokers
Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the United States and accounts for nearly one of every four deaths
According to the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC):
Heart disease is the most common cause of death in the United States
More than 1.4 million heart attacks occur each year in the United States
Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death for Americans
Based on these stats from the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the CDC, few individuals and families escape these diseases. I’m sure all of you know someone battling cancer or suffering cardiovascular problems. Selling cancer and critical illness policies is a tremendous opportunity for you to make a positive difference in the lives of these individuals, grow your business, and vastly expand your customer base. Using the $3,000 Accidental Death Policy as a door-opener is an easy way to begin the process, and you’re on your way to securing a new customer.
I wish you great selling in 2015!

Cancer, Critical Illness, and the ACA
AD-364AD-330
AD-165 F6987
What do you know about the ACA?
® For months www.healthcare.gov didn’t work properly, but most of those issues seem to be resolved
® If you liked your old health plan, you couldn’t always keep your old health plan
® Thousands of individuals and families lost health insurance coverage because of the ACA, and thousands gained it
® Premiums went up for some people and down for others
® Coverage is better for some people and worse for others
Check out the Ad Catalog! To generate interest among prospects, use print ads and other lead generators from the UA and First UA Ad Catalogs in local newspapers, community bulletins, HOA newsletters, etc. Talk to your Medicare Supplement prospects about a cancer policy, since its issue age is 0 to 69 in all states (except California) where it’s approved for sale.
Prospects have two choices
® GET INSURED: If an individual purchases a health insurance policy, he can still have expenses his policy doesn’t cover, such as deductibles, copays, or coinsurance. There may also be additional expenses his policy benefits don’t cover, especially if his illness is catastrophic. If he can’t work, how can he pay routine expenses, like buying groceries, paying utility bills, or paying the mortgage?
® STAY UNINSURED: If an individual doesn’t purchase a health insurance policy, he will be totally responsible for all medical costs related to any accident or illness, and those costs can be as catastrophic as the illness itself if it’s cancer, heart attack, or a stroke. In addition, he must pay a penalty to Uncle Sam.
The ACA was signed into law in 2010; it’s going into its fifth year of implementation, and it’s still a mixed bag of positives and negatives, depending on who you talk to or what survey you read. It’s undergone numerous changes since it became law, and the Supreme Court is again putting it under the legal microscope this spring concerning the ongoing dispute over subsidy eligibility.
In spite of the ACA, many individuals and families still find the cost of healthcare premiums to be a strain on family budgets and, in some cases, prohibitively expensive.
Yet, if the individual or family member is struck down with a life threatening illness like cancer, heart attack, or stroke, they want to know they have financial resources available to them.
You can help!Whether your prospect has health insurance or doesn’t have health insurance, a Cash Cancer* policy from UA or First UA and a HealthGuard*(critical illness) policy from UA may help ease the financial burden resulting from a critical health condition.
These policies can complement your customer’s existing health coverage and may provide a financial buffer if he or a family member is struck by a devastating health crisis. For those without health insurance, a cancer and/or critical illness policy represents some degree of financial protection in case of a catastrophic illness. *Specified disease coverage does not qualify as health insurance under the ACA.

United American and First UA Agents have been using the e-App for Medicare Supplement sales for close to a year and a half. And the response from Agents just gets more positive with every passing day. Dave Oliver, Director of e-Applications, recently received these comments from some of our top producing Agents:
“Dave, thank you, for all your help and training on the e-App. I was amazed how simple and easy it is to use. Once I tried it and saw the ease with which I could do business, it was like an ‘aha’ moment! I can save money and time and speed
the sales process for both Agents and clients. I look forward to helping all my Agents get e-App certified in 2015, so they have this tool in their sales kit! Here’s a perfect example: My brother got a referral in Alaska and was able to write the husband and wife THE SAME DAY! Done! I strongly recommend all Agents get on board with the e-App ASAP … and this coming from someone who is not computer savvy! Thanks again!”
“I thank the good LORD for United American and its wonderful e-Application system. In my 35 years of writing Medicare Supplement insurance plans (30 years for UA), I can truthfully say UA's e-App system has vastly expanded my ability to write quality UA Medicare Supplement business.
“If a client can be seen in person, that is still the best scenario to build trust, benefit comprehension, and client loyalty. But if an in-person meeting is simply not feasible due to distance or time constraints, United American’s e-App is the solution. UA’s e-App has probably doubled my business and saved me huge blocks of time.
“Dave Oliver and his team have been a particular blessing to us trouble shooting issues that arise with the relatively simple e-App process. Thirty years writing UA business, plus the addition of UA’s e-App has blessed us beyond measure.”
“As an independent Agent and a customer's trusted adviser, it’s our role to always do what is in the best interest of the client. I don’t sell insurance; I solve customer problems. This being said, I refuse to do business with a company that doesn’t use some form of electronic application for the products it offers. United American has one of the best e-App tools I use. It’s user-friendly and can be used in a face-to-face or over-the-phone selling situation.
“With 21st century technology available, there’s no need to drive around with thousands of applications from hundreds of companies, trying to maintain the correct version needed for any given problem-solving situation. Applications are constantly revised by either insurance companies or the government. Using electronic applications, you know you have the correct forms for the specific state every time. UA’s e-App does not even let you continue if you make a mistake or leave out needed information. I have terrible handwriting; the fact an underwriter doesn’t have to dissect what I’ve written is a real bonus for them, for me, and the customer. If time management and customer satisfaction are important to you, use United American's e-Application.”
“After selling Medicare Supplements for 19 years with UA, I think the I-GO® e-App is one of the best
advantages UA has provided Agents. When going through training and certification 16 months ago, I had no idea how much it was going to impact my sales, and my business. It makes selling more convenient for the Agent and the client.
“In the last three months of 2014, I enrolled many clients in other parts of my home state without leaving my office. I increased my sales and enrolled more clients in a shorter period of time. It was the most productive Annual Enrollment Period I ever had. Thanks UA and thanks Dave for excellent training and support. You made my job a lot easier.” “The iGO e-App has made my life simpler. It has
allowed me to see more clients in a day without driving all over town and saved me money on gas, tires, repairs, etc. I really like seeing my cases show up on the UA website faster too. And, of course, that means they are issued faster, and I get paid faster, all good things. I have expanded into Alabama and Virginia, and it's easier to help clients there with the e-App. I was reluctant to use the e-App, and now I wish I had done it sooner. Thanks for all your support Dave. When I was unsure what I was doing, it was nice to know you were there to help. Thanks again.”
“The United American e-App has been a great tool for my whole Agency throughout 2014. We have been able to reduce the turnaround time on policies issued and speed up commissions dramatically.
My Agents have written clients in 10 states without leaving our office! Our prospective client population has gone from a few thousand to millions! There are very few companies that are embracing technology to make Agents' lives easier; it makes doing business with UA a pleasure knowing they are one of the few.
Thanks so much for your support with the platform. We look forward to many new clients, much less driving, and incredibly fast commissions throughout 2015!”
“I find the e-App to be a time saver. No more faxing in apps and waiting for them to show up in the system. They are there the next day. The e-App system does
not allow you to make a mistake. Applications issue faster, so Agents get paid faster.”
