Chaplain Beth’s Ponderings:
We would be surprised, to say the least, if we heard an announcement on TV that sunrise had been cancelled for the following day. We would be even more surprised if, on putting our feet down from the bed, we found the floor to be spongy! We take many things in nature and life for granted. Of course, these possibilities seem a bit extreme to consider, but they lead me to think about how much of life
we tend to take for granted.
In regard to human relations, things get worse when we take the people around us and their services for granted. We presume there is someone to deliver our mail; we as-sume that someone will take us shopping when we need supplies; we assume that there will be good food in plenty for us in the dining room and we trust that we’ll get good service when we go in for a meal. We assume that our friends, family members, or staff members will be there for us and that someone will be there to take care of certain tasks we no longer can manage— not always questioning whether health permits it or that taking care of certain tasks may be challenging to them as well, unless we’re told. We trust that when we visit the doctor, we will receive compe-
tent, compassionate care. The list goes on…
It is so easy to take things—and people—for granted. Feb-ruary is a month we celebrate love—Valentine’s Day. As I ponder this holiday, I also ponder the wonder of life itself and the the countless gifts that are mine in each day. What an enlightenment it would be if we would decide to take nothing for granted in our lives—to see everything as gift, and not owed to us. How beautiful each day could be if we began with wonder at all the gifts surrounding us, and all
the ways that love infiltrates every part of our lives.

My prayer for all of us today is that our eyes will be open to see the gifts we have in each other and all that is provided for us each day; that our ears may hear words of caring and love that are spoken to us; that all of our senses will be awakened to the glory of the gift of life itself. We are, indeed, blessed by the One who is Life—the One who brought creation into existence purely out of Divine love. I pray that each of us may respond with awe, wonder, and love.
Happy February & Happy
Valentine’s Day!

For this months resident spotlight, I would like to take a minute and shine a light on
all the wonderful residents here at Cherrywood Pointe! It has been a pleasure hav-
ing the opportunity to get to know just about everyone in the community. In my first
full month here, which has seemed to fly by, I have greatly enjoyed my time spent
with all the wonderful folks in the community. Each individual I have talked to has
been very welcoming and kind. I appreciate the high number of attendance we have
had at many of our programs! I am thankful to have such a wonderful group that en-
joys spending time with one another and making the most out of each day! As we en-
ter into the month of February, I am looking to bring more new and exciting programs
and activities to the community and will continue to bring back the programs that we
enjoy! If you have activity ideas, outing ideas, or would like to see something else on
the calendar, please do not hesitate to call, catch me in the halls, or swing by the of-
fice to chat. I would also like to thank everyone for being so patient and helpful dur-
ing the time of transition from Karli to myself. I have heard that Karli is doing well and
she is enjoying her new position! I hope this message finds you well and I look for-
ward to seeing you all very soon! Thank you!

Valentine’s Day Heart Healthy Fitness Tips from Centrex.
It is February, the month where we celebrate Valentine’s day, a time for expressing your love to those around you, and yourself too. A great way to take care of yourself is through exer-cising! Everybody should make fitness a priority in their life. For overall health benefits to the heart, lungs and circulation, a proper warm- up, aerobics, and stretching are important.
5 Fitness Tips for Heart health
1) Talk to your doctor
Before beginning a new routine, ask if you have any limitations and find out if there are types of exercises you should avoid.
2) Find an activity you enjoy
There are countless options out there that raise the heart rate. While you want it to be strenuous, keep it at a level where you can hold a conversation while working out.
3) Walk
Everyone should be walking at least 30 minutes per day. It does not have to be all at once but can be 3 sets of ten minutes each, or 2 sets of 15 minutes each, and this keeps you moving and less sedentary.
4) Reap the rewards
Exercise has more benefits for stress relief as well, and can be a great motivator to stick with your routine.
5) Fit it into your schedule
Exercise really makes you feel good the day you exercise, but then the next day, you need to exercise again to get the benefits.
