LAGNIAPPE Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

February 1, 2015

Page 2: February 1 2015 original

Dear Friends, Deacon Dan and I thank you for your attention last weekend as we presented to you the financial picture for 2015. As regards to income we are in deficit by $8000, which is certainly reachable. Thank you to those who have been so faithful in your Stewardship of finances. This past week registered parishioners would have received a letter from me which includes the report of your identified giving for 2014 and the 2015 Financial Stewardship pledge card. As I reported last week 23% of parishioners returned their pledge cards last year. I’d like to see that double this year. Think and pray about your response in faith to what is being asked and return your pledge card for financial stewardship this weekend. Small Faith Communities are a long tradition in the parish and have provided good results in growth of personal faith for many. These small groups generally meet in Advent and Lent, and registration for the Lenten sessions will be this weekend. If you want to give your faith-life a boost, try being a part of one of these small faith sharing communities within the parish. The current Bible Study “The Bible Timeline” has been a great success. Other Bible offerings are being planned to follow the Timeline and will be announced soon. This weekend, our Candidates for First Eucharist celebrated First Reconciliation. My heart is warmed to experience these young people earnestly asking for God’s forgiveness through the church. Using their witness, would it not be an experience you would benefit from before Easter this year??? I hope you have a blessed week. Love,

REMEMBER ST. JEAN VIANNEY PARISH IN YOUR WILL

If this parish has meaning to you and your family, then please consider remembering St. Jean Vianney Parish in your will. Call Fr. Tom for information. (753.7950)

ADORATION “NOT JUST ANOTHER MEETING”

All are invited on Tuesdays to continue their worship and love of God at adoration. It is a visit, not a meeting. A visit of ‘love to love’. Bring whatever is in your heart and soul and leave it at the feet of the Lord for HE will be at yours. “Adoration for the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth”. -Mother Theresa Join us every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm for Eucharistic Adoration. Taking special time with our Lord is a great way to grow closer to Him.

VOCATION If you are willing to respond to a religious vocation, do not be afraid that you will not know what to do or what to say. The LORD promised that He will put His words into your mouth, but you must be open to His speaking to and through you. If you think God is calling you to a Church vocation, call or email Father Matt Dupré at 225.336.8778, [email protected], or visit, www.diobr.org/vocations.

ST JEAN VIANNEY CAPITAL CAMPAIGN “Our Time to Pray, Our Time to Give”

A MATCHING GIFT There are parishioners who work for businesses which will sometimes MATCH a charitable donation to a Church or School. Is your employer one of those people? If so, your gift to the Capital Campaign could be matched. Sometimes, the employer will match a gift to a SCHOOL but not a CHURCH. Regardless of the case, we can help you find out if your employer will match your gift. Talk to Fr. Tom or Debbie Curole at the parish office, 753.7950 so we can help you help us.
