FEASTS OF THE LORD ?

• Lev. 23: 1-2 The LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

• Lev.23: 44 Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.

• Were the days the Lord called His people to celebrate with Him

in His joy

• But not “the feasts of the Jews” (Jn.2: 13; 5: 1)

DAYS OF THE FEASTS

• PASSOVER Fourteenth day of the first month (Lev.23: 5)

• UNLEAVENED BREAD From fifteenth day for seven days (v.6)

• FIRST FRUIT Morrow after the Sabbath (v.11)

• PENTECOST Morrow after seventh Sabbaths (v.16)

• TRUMPET Seventh month first day (v.24)

• ATONEMENT Tenth day of the seventh month (v.27)

• TABERNACLE Fifteenth day of seventh month for seven days (v.34)

LORD INVITED THEM

Three times an year• Ex.34: 23 Thrice in the year shall all your men children

appear before the Lord GOD, the God of Israel. (2.Chr.8: 13)

• Deut.16: 16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD

In the place which Lord shall choose;

In the feast of unleavened bread,

And in the feast of weeks, And in the feast of tabernacles:

• And they shall not appear before the LORD empty handed. (Deut.16: 16)

LORD’S CARE

Blessings promised (Ex.34: 24)

I will cast out the nations before thee,

And enlarge thy borders: Neither shall any man desire thy land.

(When thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD

thy God thrice in the year.)

• Psalms 100: 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

WEEKLY SABBATHS

SABBATH- Ex.20: 8; Due.5:12-15; Neh.13: 17-18

• Six days shall work be done:

• but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation;

• ye shall do no work therein:

• It is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. (Lev.23: 3)

• Ex. 34: 21 Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

• We are not under law to keep Sabbath (Rom.10: 4; 7: 6)

1.THE PASSOVER

• FIRST PASSOVER IN EGYPT (Ex.12)

• SECOND IN SINAI (Num.9) WILDERNESS (Seems not celebrated in rest of the journey)

AS FEAST OF THE PASSOVER (As memorial of redemption)

The place Lord shall choose (Deut.16: 2; 6)

Backward pointed to the day in Egypt;

and forward to the Cross of Calvary

Fulfilled on the Cross

For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: (1.Cor.5: 7)

IN EGYPT (Exodus 12)

• In bondage• As commanded• Inside their houses• Last night in Egypt• Every house a lamb

Thru faith they kept

the Passover and the the sprinkling of blood (Heb.11: 28)

THE PROMISE LAND (Deuteronomy 16)

• Where they dwell• As Feast of the Lord• Place Lord appointed• As memorial yearly• Of the flock and herd

Keep the Passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.

2. THE UNLEAVENED BREAD

• On the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. (Lev.23: 6)

• Purge out leaven (1.Cor.5: 8)

(CALL FOR HOLY WALK BEFORE THE LORD)

• Leaven of the Pharisees (Mat.16: 6)

Hypocrisy and pride

Unbelief and sceptism

THE UNLEAVENED BREAD

• 1 Cor.5: 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

• 1 Cor.5: 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:

• Gal.5: 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

THE FEAST OF THE WEEKS (PENTECOST) (Lev. 23: 15-21; 2.Chr.8: 15)

• Lev.23: 15 And ye shall count …sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths shall be complete:

• Lev.23: 16 Even …shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

• Pente = Fifty (Counted fifty days from Firstfruit) was the Pentecost

PROMISE OF THE LORD

I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH (Mat.16: 18)

I WILL SEND THE COMFORTER (Jn.14: 16-17)

• PROMISE FULFILLED

• Acts 2: 1 When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they all with one accord in one place.

• Acts 2: 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind.

• Acts 2: 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy

Ghost, he hath shed forth this.

CHURCH FORMED ON PENTECOST

Christ died to redeem (Acts.2: 23)

Christ resurrected to justify (Acts. 2: 32) Christ exalted to be the head (Acts.2: 33) Church to be the body (Acts. 2: 34)

BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT 1 Cor.12: 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be

bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

(The Baptism of THE HOLY SPIRIT was fully a new experience)

THE PENTECOST

THE WAVE OFFERING OF TWO LOAVES

• Lev.23: 17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they

shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.

• THE LOAVES SHOWS THE BELIEVERS

The flesh is still in the believer, but flesh mortified (Rom.6: 14)

So accepted as wave offering

WHEN THE CHURCH PERIOD IS OVER, ISRAEL WILL BE REGATHERED

Matthew 24: 31 He shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the

four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

FEAST OF THE TRUMPET (Lev. 23: 24-25)

Lev.23: 24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the

seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

• ISRAEL WILL BE REGATHERED

14TH May 1948 Re-gathered as a nation, but a greater part in dispersion still; will be gathered from the nations.

(Jer. 16: 14-15; 30: 10; Is. 11: 11; Amos 9: 14- 15; Zech.8: 7;

Mat. 24: 29-31)

NOW SPIRITUALLY BLIND (Rom.11: 26)

WHEN THEY SEE HIM (Rev.1: 7; Zec.12: 10)

THEY AS NATION WILL REPENT (Zec.12:10)

THEY WILL LAMENT (Zec.12: 10-14)

Zec 13: 1 In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

THE ATONEMENT

THE DAY OF ATONEMENT (Lev. 16)

• RULES

Aaron offer for himself the bullock (Lev.16: 6;11)

Take two goats to present before the lord (v.7) Cast lots upon the two goats (v.8) Of the Lord’s lot fell to offer as sin offering (v.9) Scapegoat into the wilderness (v.10; 21-22) Take blood inside veil sprinkle on mercy seat (v.14-16)

• Leviticus 16: 34 This shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for

all their sins once a year. He did as the LORD commanded

THE ATONEMENT

CHRIST THE SINLESS LAMB OF GOD

• Behold the lamb of God (Jn.1: 36)• Behold the lamb of God that taketh.. (Jn.1: 29)

• 1 John 2: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

• Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

• Hebrews 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

7.FEAST OF THE TABERNACLE

LAST OF THE SEVEN FEASTS (V.34-44)

(Shadow of the millennial rest)

• Lev.23: 34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.

• First and last days were Sabbaths (v.39)

• Leviticus 23:42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that

are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:

• Leviticus 23:40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days

FEAST OF THE TABERNACLE

PROMISE OF THE MILLENNIAL REST

• Micah 4: 4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.

• Zechariah 3:10 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

• Hosea 12:9 And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.

(ISRAEL HAS NOT ENTERED TO THAT REST STILL)

SABBATH WAS THE SIGN OF REST

• We in Christ have that rest (Heb.4: 4-6)

• Israel could not because of unbelief (Heb.4: 9)

• But the promise remain for them (Mic.4: 4)

Date palm (Memory of Elim- Ex.15: 27)

Willow tree (Memory of Babylon- Ps.137: 1)

• Leviticus 23:41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your

generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.

THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD (Lord desired the fellowship of his people)

Lev.23:37 These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:

Psalms 81:3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

• Ye shall do no servile work therein. (For all feasts)

Lev.23:29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in

that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. (Only

for day of atonement)

• Psalms 81:3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

• Psalms 81:4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

• Psalms 122:1-2 <<A Song of degrees of David.>> I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.

DECLINED TO TRADITION

• John 5: 1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

(Jews celebrated the feasts, but not as the feasts

of the Lord; declined to traditional celebrations) Jn.2: 13; 7: 2

• Have our Lord’s day and the Lord’s table has declined to a traditional gathering ?

Does the gathering of the saints brings glory to his name ?

• Leviticus 23: 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

• John 4: 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
