COOLANT TEST STRIPS

• Test Strips for Engine Coolant• Identifies poor quality coolant before damage occurs• For ethylene or propylene glycol coolants (antifreeze)• Eliminates expensive refractometers and pH testers• Adds credibility to coolant service recommendations• Two different tests in one strip• Freezepoint/Boilpoint Test: Tests for the amount of glycol (%) in

the system. The higher the glycol (%), the better the freeze and boil-over protection.

• Vehicle manufacturers and dealerships often recommend this test as part of engine coolant servicing or to evaluate warranty claims

• Applications: automotive service, dealerships, heavy duty trucking, fleet, quick service, vehicle maintenance operations, repair shops

• Acid Corrosion Protection Test*: Tests the pH, which is a simple way of determining the reserve alkalinity (RA) of the system. RA is the amount of alkaline buffers remaining in the coolant. RA neutralizes corrosive acids that form over time. If the pH is too low, that means the RA is too low, and acids will build up and corrode the metal surfaces of the cooling system. A very high pH is also corrosive. * The pass/fail cut-off points for the pH test vary per vehicle manufacturer. In general, “pass” = pH 7.5 to 10.5; “fail” = pH less than 7.5 (too acidic) or pH greater than or equal to 11 (too alkaline).

• Get fast results in only 15 seconds

Note: The freezepoint/boilpoint test WILL work with red and orange coolants. The acid corrosion protection test is NOT recommended for use with red and orange coolants. CoolTrak will test for acid corrosion protection in heavy duty truck coolants, but it does NOT test for cast iron liner pitting which is a second type of corrosion that is directly related to low nitrite/molybdate levels in HD coolants.
