The field of construction project management is diverse and enormously complex. There are several major classifications of construction that differ uniquely from each other: residential, commercial building, heavy highway, utility, and industrial projects. A construction project manager is in charge of the overall planning and control of a project. The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Construction Project Management Certification program is designed to provide you with the knowledge of planning and design, cost estimating, contracts, specifications, scheduling, and the practical application of project management techniques necessary to be a construction project manager.

Job Duties May Include: • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals

to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.

• Plan, schedule, or coordinate construction project activities to meet deadlines. • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports. • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes,

or other regulations. • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with environmental regulations

Class Information: This course of study is designed for those who are currently project managers to be more fully equipped for the day-to-day rigors of the professional project manager and for those who aspire to become project managers. This course of study will provide you with a solid foundation to begin your career as a project manager and to meet other industry professionals who can help you in achieving your goal. NOTE: Students should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Excel and be able to work with files, save files, and perform spreadsheet functions. You may bring your own laptop or tablet to class or you may utilize a school laptop while in class.
