SEVEN FALLS TRIP We’ll have lunch first at the Broadmoor’s newest and charming Restaurant 1858. Afterwards we will explore South Cheyenne Canyon – only five minutes from the very civilized Broadmoor Hotel – to find yourself immersed in Colorado’s famous natural beauty, Seven Falls. Once inside Seven Falls, you’ll be enveloped by cliffs and delighted by the cascade of water which falls 181 feet down the head of a box canyon into seven distinct leaps. DHT: STERLING TREE SCULPTURES When folks along the Front Range look for entertainment and beauty, they invariably look west to the mountains, but there are phenomenal offerings of both in the opposite direction as well. Join Denver History Tours for a tour of the stellar city of Sterling. Known as the City of Living Trees, for its collection of cottonwoods that have been carved into imaginative works of art, we’ll explore this artistic vision on the prairie. The fanciful creations will surely delight, and we’ll even learn something of the city’s fascinating history while there. With a lunch break in the middle, it will be a day you shouldn’t miss as we head east for artistry, entertainment and

CUSSLER MUSEUM This extensive collection of over 100 significant automobiles, ranging in years from 1906 to 1965, was started by renowned best-selling author Clive Cussler. BAKER ST. HOME WALKING TOUR The Baker Historic Neighborhood Association welcomes you to experience Denver’s elegant charm of the late 1800s –early 1900s. Homes featured on this year’s tour include classic examples of the Queen Anne Victorian and other architectural styles reminiscent of the Baker neighborhood. Notably, the tour provides a unique glimpse of the historic Fire Station 11, the Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Mary, and also the Fairmont Elementary School (now DCIS at Fairmont). Please note this a walking tour on your own, the bus will drop you off and pick you up at a designated location. We’ll have a Greek inspired lunch at Chef Zorba’s in Denver. ELK BUGLING ADVENTURE We’re off to Estes Park where participants will get to eat an early dinner, shop, and explore the town for a few hours on their own before we head into Rocky Mountain National Park to view the elk bugling. While the chances are good that we will see elk please note that they are wild animals and their behavior is unpredictable. No guarantees we will see elk during the trip so fingers crossed! Please be sure to bring your America the Beautiful or senior parks pass if you have one otherwise there will be an additional $10.00 entrance fee. SENIORS ON THE MOVE, GO WHEREVER LIFE TAKES YOU – ON RTD Discover how easy it is to use the RTD public transit system. After the one hour class at the ACAA, we head out for a trip on the bus and light rail to the restored Union Station Transit Center. The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is the only institution researching, collecting and interpreting the robust history of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. COLORADO PRISONS MUSEUM TOUR/QUEEN ANNE TEA A visit to the Royal Gorge Region isn’t complete without stopping and “doing time” in this historical cell house that was the original Women’s Correctional Facility constructed in 1935. The remodeled facility now welcomes visitors to explore the history of Colorado Corrections. Afterwards we will have afternoon tea in a renovated 1889 Victorian home at the Cañon City Queen Anne. This excursion includes a bathroom break along the way down to Cañon City. STAR K RANCH FULL MOON WALK Come see the full moon rise from Star K Ranch, one of Aurora’s many hidden gems! DHT: FORTUNES IN FORT COLLINSRanked one of the best places to live in the United States more than once, Fort Collins has a rich history and much more to offer than its beautiful campus. From its thoroughly walkable Old Town to the fantastic view of the city from the drive along Horsetooth Reservoir, we’ll explore this beautiful city at the northern end of the Front Range. STANLEY HOTEL TOUR First we are headed to the Other Side Restaurant in Estes Park, a family owned tradition serving the best of American classics. Afterwards, guests will experience history on a 90-minute walking tour around the Stanley Hotel property which provides a glimpse into the past and present of the Stanley Hotel. You learn about F.O. and Flora Stanley while walking the Stanley Hotel property, seeing the remodeled Ice House with Stanley Steam Cars, a walk-through of the hotel itself including some of the ballrooms, the connection to the paranormal, and ending in their underground tunnel. FAIRMOUNT CEMETERY MYSTERY TOUR Take a walk in historic Colorado on a tour of the Fairmount Cemetery led by the Fairmount Heritage Foundation. LIFETIME CANDLES We’ll eat lunch at the Aviator Bar and Grill before traveling to the Lifetime Candles shop in Bennett. While there we’ll learn all about the company, view a demonstration on how these amazing candles are made, and get to do some shopping. The candle shop is located in the basement of a private residence so participants will need to be able to get up and down the stairway. GENERAL HIKE INFORMATIONPlease note that hiking trails/locations are subject to change due to a variety of reasons. The elevation gain and miles round trip are estimates and the actual distances could vary on each hike. Return times are approximate and could be much earlier or later. *Bring your America the Beautiful/senior park pass or $10 cash.

HIKE RATING1 = Easier (3-5 miles round trip and/or less than 700 feet elevation gain. Generally easy terrain with milder elevation gain.)2 = Moderate (5-7 miles round trip and/or 700-1,500 feet elevation gain. Mix of easy and harder terrain-rocky or short steep sections.

ACAA HIKING READINESSACAA hikers must complete a Hiking Readiness Assessment and return it to the ACAA front desk at least one week prior to going on the hike for the first time. The ACAA strives to provide a positive hiking experience for active adults.
