• Guinness World Records is the world's best selling copyright book ever.

• The first 198-page edition was bound on 27 August 1955 and went to the top of the British best seller lists by Christmas.

• Ashrita Furman (born Keith Furman, September 16, 1954, Brooklyn, New York) is a Guinness World Records

record-breaker. As of 2014, Furman has set 551 official Guinness Records and currently holds nearly 200 records,

including the record for holding the most Guinness world records.

• The most apples bobbed in one minute he most apples bobbed in one minute is 34 and was achieved by Ashrita

Furman (USA) at the Sri Chinmoy Centre in New York.

•Some of the most frequently broken records include the longest DJ marathon. The record currently for the longest

club DJ-ing is 200 hours, achieved by Norbert Selmaj from Poland in The Underground temple bar in Dublin,

Ireland, which lasted from 19 to the 27 November 2014.

•The heaviest weight lifted with glue is 16.09 tones (35,472 lb 6.4 oz), which was achieved by Deutsches Zentrum

für Luft, aka the German Aerospace Center (Germany) at their facility in Cologne, Germany, on 22 September

2013. The glue was applied to an area of just 39.6 cm².

•The oldest person ever remains Jeanne Louise Calment who lived to be an incredible 122 years and 164 days

old.

•In 1976, a Guinness Book of World Records museum opened in the Empire State Building.

•In 2005 Guinness designated 9 November as International Guinness World Records Day to encourage breaking

of world records

• In 2012, America's Patrick Bertoletti ate three jam doughnuts in one minute without licking his

lips.

•Guinness World Records receives over 50,000 record applications a year - almost 1,000

applications every week.

•In 1956, the book of Guinness World Records launched in the US, and sold 70,000 copies.

•. In 2006 an estimated 100,000 people participated in over 10 countries. Guinness reported 2,244 new records in 12 months, which was a 173% increase over the previous year.

•Game Of Thrones has officially been entered into the Guinness World Records 2015 book as

the most pirated TV program. The US itself comprised 12.302% of the downloads.

•The fastest time to eat a 12inch pizza is held by Peter Czerwinski who holds the record at 41.31

seconds.

•Henry Goldman unsuccessfully attempted 16 world records in 62 seconds.

• The 2014 Guinness World Records Day was the biggest yet, with more than 600,000 people

taking part across the globe, from Australia and China to Japan and the UK.

•Another record that is broken regularly is the Oldest person in the world. The oldest living

person is Misao Okawa (née Aoki) from Japan born 5 March 1898), who is 117 years old.

• The Guinness World Records holds around 40,000 current records in the database but only

publish around 4,000 records in the book.

Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge currently

holds the Guinness World Record for

the longest bridge in the world in any category

as of June 2011

According to the Guinness Book of World

Records, the heaviest person ever was

American Jon Brower Minnoch (born 1941),

who had suffered from obesity since

childhood. As an adult he was 6 ft 1 in tall.
