Ways to Schedule Posts Ahead of Time
• Do it from Outlook
FIRST – GET YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS FOR FACEBOOK UPDATES
If it’s your personal page ‐ go to facebook.com/mobile, click on “Upload via Email”
If it’s a business page ‐ go to your page and click “Edit Page”
Then click on “Mobile”
and “voila” – there it is
SECOND– USE OUTLOOK’S DEFERED DELIVERY OPTION
(1) Open a new blank email(2) Type your post into the SUBJECT line (not the body)(3) Click OPTIONS tab(4) Click on DELAY DELIVERY
Choose your date and time, close and send – DONE!
Ways to Schedule Posts Ahead of Time
• Use Tweetdeck
• Made for Twitter but also let’s you update Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Google Buzz and Foursquare
• Great tool• Memory hog
TWEETDECK – FREE TWITTER APPLICATION
FIRST – REGISTER YOUR TWEETDECK ACCOUNT (IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY)
SECOND – CLICK ON THE CLOCK AT THE TOP RIGHT (UNDER THE 140)
Choose your date and time
Type Your post
If you manage multiple accounts, choose your account to post to
Right now it’s set to post to my personal Twitter account (see how it’s brighter?) , but I could also click the first one and post to my Facebook at the same time – or switch to the North Alabama Chapter of PRCA
And once your ready, click SEND (it says “today” only because that’s the date I chose)
It shows up in a new column called “Scheduled Updates”
A SIDE NOTE:
I’ve had my Tweetdeck account for a long time but was having trouble registering the account. This fixed the problem for me.
Just sharing
Ways to Schedule Posts Ahead of Time
• Use Hootsuite
I haven’t used Hootsuite much (I’m a Tweetdeck gal) but it’s still simple:
NOW LET’S TALK MONITORING
Ways to Monitor Social Media
• Use Google Alerts
Go to Google.com/alerts and sign up for email alerts to be sent to you.
Whenever the key words that you enter in as your ’search terms’ show up on the world’s largest search engine you will be notified in your inbox.
You can also use this tactic to monitor what is going on with your competition.
Ways to Monitor Social Media
• Use Social Mention
Social Mention does the exact same thing as Google Alerts but specifically monitors social media chatter.
Enter your search terms, click on which media sources you want to watch, all done through email notifications
Ways to Monitor Social Media
• Use Twitter search
go to “search.twitter.com”
Use the “advanced search” option to focus even more

BONUS ROUND! AND NOW A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT ETIQUETTE
5 mistakes that turn people away
Mistake #1:
Talk about Yourself.
Relentlessly.
“Too many companies treat social platforms as conventional
one‐way communication channels, rather than a medium for genuine
dialogue with customers.”
Social Media Explorer founder Jason Falls.
Mistake #2: Ignore Your Fans
Mistake #3:
Ignore Complaints.
Mistake #4:
Break Your Promises.
Mistake #5: Just Make Noise.
People are willing to give a LIMITED amount of their attention to advertising or promotional messages. But they want it to be relevant to them. And they really want it only in exchange for free or cheap content.
So what are you giving people in exchange for their attention?
