THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT, WHERE THE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT (MPs) MEET AND WORK, ARE A FAMOUS LONDON SIGHT ALONG THE RIVER THAMES. THE CLOCK TOWER IS CALLED BIG BEN AND IT IS FAMOUS ALL OVER THE WORLD. ITS NAME REFERS TO THE BELL OF THE CLOCK.
BIG BEN IS ONE OF FIRST THINGS YOU SEE WHEN VISIT LONDON. IT WAS ERECTED AFTER THE HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT HAD BEEN BURNED IN 1834. THE HUGE CLOCK INSIDE THE TOWER IS EXTREMELY ACCURATE.

IT IS 135 METRES HIGH. IT STANDS BESIDE THE RIVERTHAMES, NEAR THE HOUSES OFPARLIAMENT. YOU CAN RIDE ONTHE WHEEL IN BIG PLASTICCABINS THE WHEEL TURNS VERY SLOWLY AND FROM THE TOP YOUCAN SEE ALL OF LONDON.THE VIEW IS MAGNIFICENT.
ANCIENT FORTRESS IN LONDON, NOW USED AS A MUSEUM, WAS A ROYAL RESIDENCE IN THE MIDDLE AGES. LATER IT WAS A JAIL. IN THE TOWER OF LONDON THERE ARE THE CROWN JEWELS. THE BEEFEATERS ARE THE GUARDS OF THE TOWER.
THIS VERY FAMOUS VICTORIAN BRIDGE, NOW MORE THAN 100 YEARS OLD,IS 60 METRES LONG AND ITS TOWERS RISE TO A HEIGHT OF 43 METRES. IT WAS DESIGNED BY WOLFE BARRY AND HORACE JONES AND COMPLETED IN 1874. IF YOU CLIMB THE TOWERS YOU CAN ENJOY A BEAUTIFUL VIEW OF THE RIVER AND SEE THE ORIGINAL STEAM MECHANISM FOR RAISING THE BASCULES. TOWER BRIDGE WAS OPENED IN 1894.
•PICCADILLY CIRCUS IS THE CENTRE OF NIGHT LIFE IN THE WEST END. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST KNOWN PLACES IN LONDON. IN THIS AREA THERE ARE MANY THEATRES AND RESTAURANTS. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SQUARE THERE IS THE STATUE OF EROS.
Close to Madame Tussaud’s is the PLANETARIUM. Open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., it is a favorite stop for the children who love astranomy.Laser concerts are sometimes held in the evening.

Here you can see wonderful houses, an open air theatre that presents performances of plays by Shakespeare, some colleges, and the London Zoo.
THE PRESENT CATHEDRAL WAS DESIGNED IN NEO-CLASSICAL STYLE BY CHRISTOFHER WREN, AN ENGLISH ARCHITECT , AFTER GREAT FIRE OF LONDON DESTROYED IT IN 1666. ITS DOME IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL IN THE WORLD . IMPORTANT PEOPLE WERE BURIED HERE.
