Summer School
Director: Dr. Dawn Forbes Murphy
The Office of Extended Learning - Summer School is an integral component of the university. We offer
opportunities for students to meet a wide range of educational, career and personal enrichment goals. Summer is
specifically designed to provide an array of courses ranging from face-to-face instruction to hybrid and online
delivery. It is an extension of the academic year with an essential link between spring and fall semesters. Summer
enables undergraduate and graduate students to continue their studies and enjoy a summer vacation. We help
bridge the academic year to create a continuous and seamless flow of learning opportunities for the university and
community-at-large while serving as a catalyst for lifelong learning.
Summer School boasts a diverse student population combining current students with visitors from other universities,
newly admitted students and high school students. We offer courses for students desiring to enrich, supplement, or
accelerate their education.
With smaller classes and longer class meetings, you'll be able to develop deeper and more collegial relationships
with your classmates and professors. As you cover up to 16 weeks of content in only a few short weeks, you'll be
challenged and stretched, but you may find that you will enjoy your coursework more than ever before.
Summer School is an excellent experience at an incredible value. We invite you to take courses taught by award
winning N.C. A&T faculty while attending a world class; university…MAKE THE RIGHT ACADEMIC MOVE!
Sincerely,
Dawn Forbes Murphy, Ed.D.

Distance learning is an important and growing part of N.C. A&T's mission. In keeping with its commitment to the University's mission and goals as outlined in Preeminence 2020, the CDL seeks to facilitate intellectual growth, increase student access to North Carolina A&T State University, and enhance lifelong learning among citizens in a global society.
Working in close cooperation with the academic schools and colleges, the Center for Distance Learning (CDL) administers distance courses, certificates, and degree programs to meet the needs of students who prefer to take courses at their convenience, both in terms of place and time. The Center for Distance Learning enables students to access distance courses, certificates, and degree programs offered by the university through online and extension programs. The education delivered to distance learning students is the same as for the traditional on-campus student but in a distance learning format. Students and faculty interact via online group discussion sessions, email, interactive video classrooms, streamed videos, and on-site instruction.
All N.C. A&T distance learning classes incorporate the Internet-based course management system called Blackboard. Through Blackboard, students and faculty interact within a distance classroom. Students are required to log into Blackboard to gain access to course materials, assignments and other important items related to their class. More details regarding Blackboard are available at https://blackboard.ncat.edu.
