SAMs - St. Andrew’s Moms Winter/Spring 2021 Information and Calendar SAMs is the umbrella group for the different activities for Catholic Mothers of children of all ages here at St. Andrews in Roanoke. We are a community of women who support each other spiritually, emotionally and even physically in our day to day vocation as Mothers and wives. We have a focus on strengthening the family and the faith through nourishing and educating our own call to motherhood in prayer and joyful instruction. This growing community is a gift from the Spirit and we are excited to announce all the different daytime and evening events in an effort to reach out to as many as we can. We hope you can join us and we look forward to fellowship with you. Below is a description of each sub-group and activitis this Winter/Spring 2021. For more information on Praying Moms and SAMS in general, please contact Linda Vaught at [email protected]. To be added to our “SAMS - St. Andrew’s Moms” facebook page or for more information about our playgroup and Mom’s Morning Retreat talks, please contact Maria MacBain at [email protected]. SAMs Bible Study This is a special Bible Study group for our Catholic Mothers and women. This year the group will be reading “Exploring the Catholic Classics - How Spiritual Reading Can Help You Grow in Wisdom”. This is part of the “Stay Connected Journals for Catholic Women” series and will be lead by Linda Vaught. We will meet in the Social Hall from 7pm - 8:30pm once a month. Please wear a mask. We apologize, we cannot serve refreshments at this time, but please feel free to bring your own. Come any time, bring a friend, even if you’ve missed several dates, we want to see you there! Meeting Dates: Jan. 11th Feb. 8th March 15th April 19th May 10th Playgroup Our playgroup has evloved this year to meet the needs of a bigger group with older kids, but what fun we have been having! You can find us now at parks near our local Catholic churches and in the community. We meet almost every Friday at 2pm, with some morning and weekend dates thrown in. To be added to the list and find out where we will be gathering next, please email Maria MacBain for details. Building Our Young Church - Family Project We are in Phase I - Spiritual Adoption, of this wonderful project to help build our parish community. We begin by praying for God to show us a family or young adult in our parish. Pick them out in your head and heart next time you attend Mass. Then, commit to spiritually adopting them by praying for them daily, asking God to bless them, Christ to guide them and that the Holy Spirit will fill their hearts with faith, hope and love. As the restrictions of COVID lift, we will expand, so, more to come! Please contact Kris Levy at klevy@ standrewsva.org for more information. Mom’s Morning Retreat This wonderful morning time of fellowship and spiritual nourishment is taking a COVID vacation for now, but please join us for our Bible study group and stay tuned for exciting things to come Fall of 2021! Praying Moms Our existing prayer and community group for mothers with Kindergarten through College age kids has been actively praying from home this past year, but we are making plans to “re-emerge” as soon as we can. Stay tuned! SAMS Evening Events We know that many of us Mothers work outside the home or have other obligations during the day that make daytime events difficult. In an effort to reach more Moms and create a greater community during this unusual time, we have moved our Bible study to evenings this year. We are brainstorming for our future and would love feedback from YOU for great events to come!
