John Jay offers an education that is first-rate where over 15,000 students come to learn, explore and expand their knowledge. John Jay has majors and programs that incorporate a liberal arts or criminal justice focus. There are numerous minors and certificate programs, and hundreds of elective classes in History, English, Psychology, Speech and Theater, and other traditional liberal arts subjects. In addition, scholarship opportunities abound, as do honors programs that spur individuality and intellectual energy producing exceptionally talented students.

Our student body is comprised of nearly 100+ nationalities with a multinational faculty that includes many of the world’s foremost experts in a range of industries. From the entertainment industry to politics, private business to forensic laboratories, law enforcement to academia’s ivory towers and the corridors of public service, our alumni are making a difference and redefining the future. Our alumni work in government, the private sector and non-profits. They are corporate leaders, lawyers, and chiefs of police. One alumnus is a novelist and detective for the New York City Transit Police Department; another is the director of New York City’s crime lab; while yet another is an entrepreneur who revolutionized the retail industry using a 24 x 7 toll-free telephone number and the internet for direct sales to consumers.
