is increasing nearly 5% per year¡ Jordan is facing shortages in the capacity in
the short run and in the coming 20 years ¡ In the coming 20 years app. 2100 MW new
capacity is needed to satisfy increased demand and decommissioned plants.

§ Jordan has a potential for more solar energy, especially solar water heating, wind and very small potential biomass (municipal waste).§ The exploitation will require very large
investment, i.e. more than USD 700 Mill over the next 10 year.
The assessment of renewable energy identifies the following potentials for renewable energy in Jordan:
1. Solar energy: potential app. 2000 GWh/year2. Wind energy: potential 1000 GWh/year
3. Biomass & municipal solid waste: potential 350 GWh/year
