The Madison Valley Medical Center and

Foundation’s missions are to support our medical

needs to keep us all healthy, and to ensure our

remarkable community continues to thrive.

The Madison Valley Medical Center is celebrating the 10th anniversary of offering care in our medical facility,

but our story begins back in 1949…

With the Madison Valley’s population continuing to grow, locals began working toward establishing resident medical services. After a successful fundraising campaign, the Madison Valley Hospital was completed in 1950.

Dr. Ron ”Doc” Losee served as the first physician, and Dr. Gene Wilkins was the second permanent resident medical doctor, starting in 1964.

On March 16, 2009, the Madison Valley Medical Center was established, reflecting a significant step up from the original three-bed clinic.

The Madison Valley Medical Center initiated a visual rebranding to better reflect “Expert Care with Small Town Compassion”.

At Madison Valley Medical Center, we strive to deliver innovative medical care with the kind of small-town compassion that has been the hallmark of this valley for generations.

The Medical Center is located on the north end of Main Street in Ennis, where all the patient rooms are private and enjoy spectacular views of the Madison Range.

If family and friends come to visit, a large patient/visitor lounge provides a comfortable place to wait or socialize. Board games, a complimentary refreshment bar, and a lovely old piano are a few details that make for a welcoming visit.

We’re proud to be a designated trauma receiving facility, providing initial evaluation, stabilization, diagnoses, and assessment for transfer to a higher level of care if necessary. Our hospital care includes recovery and rehabilitation services, physical, occupational

and speech therapies, cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation and wound care.

Our full laboratory and imaging departments with ultrasound, CT, mobile MRI and private mammography suite helps us with accurate diagnoses. We offer screening colonoscopies and endoscopies, and for patients needing intravenous medications, outpatient IV therapy is available.

To speed recovery after a surgery or out of town hospitalization, we provide a dynamic Transitional Care Program, to get patients back on their feet.

Our Family Medicine Clinic with walk-in availability gives patients from all ages and all walks of life a convenient way to get the help they need.

We continue to facilitate conversations among the staff and community to explore new services, and prioritize opportunities for growth and expansion.

Our 36,470-square-foot hospital has two levels and ten beds.

FACILITY

Our staff includes 5 doctors, 2 nurse practitioners, 2 physician assistants, 55 trained caregivers and clinical care staff and an administrative and support staff of 22.

STAFF

The Family Medicine Clinic provides over 9,000 patient visits per year.

CLINIC

Comprehensive physical, occupational and speech therapy, along with cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation services are projected to provide over 6,000 visits in 2019.

REHABILITATION

Visiting specialists in gynecology, oncology, cardiology and audiology bring a high level of expertise.

SPECIALISTS

A partnership with Ennis Schools to offer a school nurse program further connects us with our community.

PARTNERSHIPS

Strategic relationships with Mayo Clinic and Allevant strengthen our Transitional Care program.

RELATIONSHIPS

From health fairs and blood drives, to educational outreach and student shadowing opportunities, we’re here to help.

Every year, anglers on the Madison look forward

to getting out on the water and experiencing the

myriad of changes that await them. Did the winter’s

deep freeze subtly alter the course of the river above town? Is

there a new riffle, thanks to this year’s runoff, that looks to be an

ideal big fish spot? It’s all part of the joys of fishing a wild river.

Just as the river changes, things at the Madison Valley Medical

Center Foundation have changed this year, too — and we’re

excited to explore all the new opportunities with you.

For example, we welcomed a new executive director, Dawn

Conklin, who is proving successful in her navigation of

foundation development and long-term planning. This year we

also welcomed several new board members to the foundation,

and look forward to bringing their fresh vision to our new,

shared presence.

With an eye to the future, the foundation voted to co-brand

with the hospital; with a new shared logo, website, and annual

report, we’ll be moving forward with a unified vision of providing

excellence in healthcare for our community, in keeping with the

hospital’s overall strategic plan.

As John F Kennedy once said; “Change is the law of life. And

those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss

the future.”

Thanks to you, our generous donors, we have had another positive year. We have grown both our long term and our capital funds from the support of our committed community. This generous commitment from you will allow us to continue our support of MVMC and prepare for upcoming strategic growth of the facilities in order to better serve the community.

In spite of unfavorable market conditions that resulted in a loss of 7.99% for the 2018 calendar year, the investment portfolio has returned 4.83% since inception of investments. We value and appreciate the careful guidance of our investment advisors, the Yellowstone Group of Morgan Stanley.

We consider our stewardship of the invested funds to be of utmost importance, and during market volatility, we meet often to review performance and craft appropriate strategies.

Our long-term funds grew to $3.9 million at the end of fiscal year 2018 as a result of both investment earnings and contributions. The investment income and donations topped $400,000.

These funds were used to:

• Complete an electronics health records project• Purchase a crash cart and new physical

therapy equipment• Help train and retain key medical staff
